Do you have a charcoal Weber? I love a charcoal grill as well but am not sure how much I would use it since it's not as convenient and I grill more than 50% of the time.


The cookbox is all rusted out, which is weird, because it's also loaded up w/ grease which seems like it would prevents rust. The heat plates have been replaced and are rusted out again. The metal "tubing" in the back where the gas runs to the burners is all rusted and flames are all over. I was going to clean it, but realized that if I did, there was a good change that it would disintegrate completely. I'll clean it out now and see if someone wants it. The good thing about it is that usually when my grill is about to die, the burners are so clogged up that there is barely a flame. This time the flame is actually great. It's cooking a little hot on high, but if you cook on low it's fine. After all, grilling is high and fast, unlike BBQing which is low and slow.

I know I should be venting and ranting but I just love when Amazon uses a shipping company that delivers on Sunday! LOL... I went to my car to put something in the trunk and saw 2 boxes sitting at my front door. In one box are the grill lights.

Can anyone tell me what "Customs Clearance delay" means?

It's polite officialese for:

"We are currently watching the porn-DVDs you ordered, so they are on delay.
If they are good the delay'll be extendend by copy-time.
The costs for DVD-R DL discs needed will be added to your fees."

Thanks nohmi. That was me for too long. If I grilled once in a while, it would be different, but I grill too often to keeping buying crap grill after crap grill. I grilled at least 3 days a week when I lived in a cold climate. Now that I live in the Sunshine State it makes more sense to grill than cook inside for even more reasons, like the stove is electric, and the A/C is usually on. So, it cost more because the stove uses electric and because the a/c has to work harder to cool the house back down. I finally realised that getting a decent grill will actually save money as well as be a more enjoyable experience.

I didn't grill anything new today, but heated up the chicken that I grilled last night on the grill instead of the microwave. It came out nice and crispy! That's something I've never done before.

Hmmm... I dunno. My SO has a friend named Genesis, and well... Weber is already a name, but Genesis Weber, not bad for a person. I like Kenny's name, Priscilla the Grilla. Or something cute like Copper Bunny.

I never clean it right after. I clean it after I've heated it up to start grilling.

Anh, if this is coming from Amazon, they probably shipped via FedEx or UPS. Both of these carriers have their own private Bonded Customs Holding areas as an extra way to make a LOT of money. They pay smaller countries for the 'privilege' of doing the Customs duty inspections for the county.

Most countries don't inspect EVERY package coming into their systems, (and usually don't charge import duties on most goods under a certain price,) but FedEx and UPS will. Then they tack on several extra charges such as insurance while in holding, holding charge, etc. even though you never asked for your package to be held. Every day that they delay, they are able to charge more and more money. Then the customer gets charged import duties, holding charges, insurance charges, forwarding charges, etc. paid to FedEx or UPS, while they only pass along the import duties to the country, keeping the rest for their efforts. Several years ago I realized what was going on, and now NEVER permit FedEx or UPS to ship to me in Asia. Only USPS Express, which still has a tracking number for safety, but usually doesn't get held up for Customs inspections!

well, we didn't want it to rust or anything...well, not that we did the cleaning. our maid does it. but there's still the matter of taking it out and stuff

Whenever I had to completely degrease the grill, which I normally do about every 3-4 months to prevent my rib-eyes from catching on fire, I would always notice where the rust spots were because it was so completely grease free.
