How did you know his name was George? I'm not sure that his last name is Foreman, though, probably something like Gupta, Chattopadhyay or Balasubramanium?

At the children's hosp where I worked, "Code Blue" for a patient suddenly dying was instead called "Dr Bluebird" to supposedly be less terrifying for the panicking parents. (They'll never crack that brilliant code!) The Resident on call would be paged overhead, although all of the Residents were supposed to respond. The PA page would say "Dr Bluebird! Dr Bluebird in the ER! Dr Chadalawada to Dr Bluebird in the ER!" now imagine that shouted into the already too loud PA system over and over for about 2 minutes.

Morty, I'm doing drywall by braille. I use my brother-in-law's power screwdriver, drive it until it sounds "grindy," then feel it to be sure it is countersunk deeply enough. Same with sanding the joint compound. Rub it looking for bulges, then smooth it down.

Cutting the gypsum with a utility knife was sort of thrilling, like riding a roller coaster. Keep your fingers and hands inside the line!

They took away my driver's license, but I can still use power tools!

I think it would be unstable if Mortis discovered it!

at the ski school I work at, it is not uncommon to temporarily misplace a student, especially the smaller ones. the parents listen in on our radio channel, so whenever we called in with a missing student alert, it was a "missing lift ticket"

Back in the '60s the US government gave some college professor $65,000 (not much now, but a lot of money then.) to study why heroin addicts have no ulcers.

Kenny, you ought to petition the government of an allergy/heroin research project. My bet is that just like the addicts back then, you won’t have any problems to worry about.

I only had 2 extra parts when I was done, so... it might actually stay together if a good wind blows by. This is my 3rd grill in less than 5 years, that last grill started needing replacement parts at about year two. : I'm thinking... it may cost more up front, but long term savings and a way better grilling experience will more than make up for it. You can imagine my surprise when I brought up, "Honey, we need a new grill and I think we should get a Weber" with my SO. I told him how much it would cost and and he didn't flinch at all. I looked at him surprised and he quoted my mother (who passed away in '99 so he never met her).

She had a bunch of one liners when it came to making personal or household purchases. She used to say, "Get the best, or don't get it at all. If you don't get the best, you'll find out shortly, that the cheaper product was a waste of money and you'll have to replace it anyway. If you can't afford the best, be patient and save until you can. You'll find out that it was worth it and a savings in the long run." There's no beating Mom wisdom.
