The Thin Man--Turner Streaming

In case anybody is a Thin Man fan, I wanted to let you know that for a few more days, the entire set (6 movies) is currently running on TCM's streaming service (on Roku, etc.).

Enjoy! My hubby never understands how I can watch Nick & Nora all the time. I don't even read the book as often as I watch the movies, but daaayyyam, I can always watch Loy and Powell. :-) There is just something about them, even in those last two movies, that really wasn't up to the level of the first ones. (And, yes, their other movies, too but TTMs are my rave faves.)

It would be fun to check out the 50's TV series too if it ever gets streamed...

Starting season 4 of Astrid - wish I understood French better - reading captions gets old.

We watched Black Doves this week. I really enjoyed it, though I must say the last episode was a bit too much about setting up a second season (although with Netflix it'll be anyone's guess if that's going to happen).

Lined up we got the Medici series and the latest series of Homestead Rescue. I'll let my sister choose which one she wants to start with (or maybe one episode of both each night).

The best or 2nd best is A Muppet Christmas Carol. The other that would be 1st or 2nd best version is the Alastair Sim version.

Saw Conclave a week ago. I liked it quite a bit, which is rare for me since I consider the vast majority of movies being released to be terrible.

My wife and I watched Conclave not long after it because available to stream on Peacock. We quite enjoyed it.

I watched all of Babylon 5 for the first time over the last month or so. I enjoyed it quite a lot. All except for the final season 5, of course. Looking back through B5's history, I understand full well WHY season 5 happened, but that didn't help me like it. Particularly, the 80s Hair Band Telepath Cult arc. They should have wrapped it up after 4 seasons (and maybe included the final episode of season 5--which I understand they had filmed before season 5 anyway).

I'm in the middle of Landman - not my usual viewing choice - has so/so writing and plot lines (Texas oil fields with macho riggers) but the casting/acting is brilliant - Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm are great. Looking forward to season 2.

If I remember correctly, B5 was canceled abruptly after season 4 but the writers/producers wanted to wrap up the story lines and filmed the season 5 final episode - and then convinced the studios to film the entire season 5. I agree - the first 4 seasons were truly ground breaking for their time - and hold up well now.

One of the reasons that Babylon 5 was so good is that it had one person running the entire series, and he had everything mapped out in advance, including trapdoors to accommodating cast members leaving. I also liked that he had characters grow and change over the course of the series, with some ending up in an unexpected place (such as Londo and Vir).

Caught up on latest seasons of Murder In... and Alice Nevers. Also Ellis which is very good, another no-nonsense investigation team without the usual personal complications filler crap.Hadn't seen Clarke before, she's terrific in this role - kind of a Vera on steroids.

We finished the second season of Silo last night. Like the first season we really enjoyed it. Though it didn't stay as close to the book as the season one. It's already announced that there will be a further two seasons and it will be interesting to see how they end up fitting the final two books in, since they had two seasons for book one of the series.

I just started watching this. Just finished the S01E01.
I watched S01 when it first came out, but watching it again before watching S02.
