But try not to put much stock in these complaints, he's also whinged about Kobo since around or before the H2O v1 era, and is very obviously nitpicking over this feature to reaffirm his decision to stick with the tiled home screen version of the firmware. In my opinion there is little short of bringing that home screen back that Kobo could do that'd satisfy Koboy in terms of UI/UX, any other change he doesn't love is just icing on the cake.

I find it's much easier to treat his statements the same as many do a certain other persons claims that you must absolutely use a case for your ereader, or their railings against USB C, and how Nook has sheathed their devices in rubber.
some of your comments/post have common sense/validity. when someone says to another person they are nitpicking/whinging it usually means they disagree them.

Forcefully- in a strong and assertive manner; vigorously.

You said you’d make the case that people who were not lamenting a feature removal were probably not using it. As you didn’t feel the need to back this case you were making one is free to conclude you were so confident in your claim that you didn’t feel examples to support your case were needed. Which would satisfy the strong manner aspect for forcefully. And thus you asserted a view.

oh dear just for awhile there i thought you'd grasped the gist of that part of my post. i made sure i used the words probably didn't use it much/never. the keyword being (probably) as you correctly/rightly pointed out. if my comment in anyway as over stepped the mark i'm pretty sure a moderator will let me know.

To be fair, many of your posts do tend to be worded in a way which invites disagreement.

i often disagree with posts on here, but that doesn't mean i have to reply to them. in fact mainly i don't. ignoring is sometimes/often the best thing to do. you'd think by reading some of the replies to my posts that i was always in the minority even though that's not factually correct. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=330525

edit. i would add it's more often than not (although not always) the same people who disagree with me.

Making an assertion isn't against the forum guidelines, so there wouldn't be a need for moderation, nice red herring though.

Also way to ignore that the point of my post wasn't centered around the "probably", but that you felt no need to give any evidence to support what you were stating, thus taking it as a given.

It's alright, I know you just want to try and prove to yourself that the older firmware is the best.

A poll with sub 100 replies, which also doesn't factor in if the preference for the old homescreen is so great that those who do prefer it would stay with the old firmware. As a point of interest there are 167 people viewing the forum currently, while all of 70 people total bothered to vote between June 5th, 2020 and today.

Yes, this is strong evidence that you're in a majority by sticking with the older firmware.

I see now why you didn't provide anything to support your opinion about people who don't miss a feature using it.

please enlighten me what changed your mind/opinion so quickly from explaining quite rightly to uncle robin at post 150 what i meant? i (purposely) used the words probably didn't use it much/never to indicate that it was my opinion and not an asserted fact.

You said you could make a case, which is beyond opinion. I only corrected Uncle Robin in that you said those who weren’t lamenting the removal probably (vs definitely) hadn’t used the feature.

You’re still asserting that they probably didn’t as a fact. The probability of them not using it much/at all being greater than them using it moderately to significantly.

Since you want to quibble over word usage so much, one would think you’d know the difference between “making a case” vs stating an opinion.

i'm not the one quibbling or wanting to make a big thing out of it, you are. please forgive me if i don't take advice from someone who clearly disagrees with some if not all of the opinions that i have being making on here regarding Kobo's hardware/software choices for the last six years.

So is it selective memory or revisionist history:

Please forgive me if I disregard the opinion of someone who makes false claims, has a history of not reading fully (see the whole page numbers for collections thing for a recent example and spare me the “someone else did it too” response you gave David, and is more often than not in the minority in the extremes to which he takes his preferences (see not updating to current firmware over the tiled homescreen).

Never mind that the advice given to you had nothing to do with Kobo hardware or software. I’ll just take that as more evidence that you’re content to keep your head in the sand.

general speaking those who disagree with me on here are usually the same select few, of which you are most certainly at the top of the list. i made the point i wasn't the only one who thought the page number didn't show while using the scrollbar/slider because it's true and also because it wasn't instantly obvious.

i'm not the first person nor will i be the last who as missed reading a comment/post on here. i admit that at first what David (who you refer to) wrote in his reply to me i didn't pick up on what he meant straight away. when i did i was surprised he thought i was making a claim for some new knowledge that had just being giving to me, that certainly was not my intention. even though i disagreed with him on how it read i amended my initial edit accordingly.

please point me to my claims that i have made that are false and my history of not reading comments fully?

edit. what i could/should have done regarding my comment at post 118 is it would have been better if i'd have put (in my opinion) rather than i'd make the case. that's a miswording/mistake that i certainly won't make again in the future.

best wishes koboy

As a courtesy, could you post a picture of what My Books looks like on a KA1? I've never seen one in person and images online tend to mostly show show the homescreen. Perhaps naively, I'd assumed that the Aura ONE looked mostly like a blown up version of the Clara. When I do see other screens, like settings for instance, that is what it tends to look like.

I don't remember how they're aligned (I pre-generate and stretch my covers), but it might be due to cover aspect ratios if they're top-aligned with shrinking heights.
