Chapters is shipping the cover separately. I ordered the Aura One with the cover, and the One has shipped, but the cover won't ship until Sept. 6.

Sorry no more updates.

I think I'm verging on the edge of insufferable in my enthusiasm. My only defense is that this is the first time I've purchased a top of the line e-Reader for myself. My 350 was a markdown Radio Shack store display.

I can confirm that. I didn't order as early as you did, I ordered at 6:30 EST both the reader and the cover (so sue me I sleep at night instead of eagerly refreshing the Kobo store page). I do not have shipping confirmation yet.

This is a big problem of Kobo's... they just don't understand the purpose of the pre-order. They only see it as a marketing tool to drive up hype. But that is absolutely not what it's really for!

They should have made pre-orders available weeks in advance. That way they would have a much better sense of how many units they needed. Then they would have been prepared for day 1 (9/6). It's not even day 1 and they clearly don't have enough in stock to complete orders. That was completely preventable.

And while I'm on the topic, the delays between the vague twitter comment to the announcement to making pre-orders available were all so far apart that the hype just deflates. I mean seriously!! They should have made pre-orders available at the same time the reader was announced (and it should have been announced no more than a week from the post on twitter). That would have also solved the supply problem and kept the hype up.

Kobo certainly makes some fantastic readers, but they really don't know what they're doing when it comes to device launches.

Has anyone's package left Memphis yet? Mine got there about the same time as others have reported but is now hung up in customs. Per FedEx: Clearance delay; Importer needs to provide tariff number. I posted a question to Kobo support but no response yet. Somehow, I get the feeling it will not arrive by September 8.

Ah, I just noticed that beespeckled's One has gotten to Seattle from Memphis. Guess I'm on my own with the clearance delay, sigh...

I am jealous, chapters has yet to ship mine that I ordered on the 30th (830pm cst). I want my Aura One! I am hoping it will ship tomorrow, and maybe get here by the weekend?

Let us know how it goes, anyone else notice that Kobo has extended release date to Sept 15th on the web site?

In Germany you can't pre-order them to start with. And to top it off, they rather cheeky offer free shipping until the 5th of September. So when you actually can buy them, you have to pay for the shipping.

I'll wait until they are in the shops and buy one in town.

You are right about them being better at making than marketing.

Well, I ordered something else beside the Kobo as well: a keyboard, and they'll only ship both together It's still shown as shipping the 6th, so I expect a notice in the door tomorrow that we were not home and we'll try again tomorrow
