I've just checked two libraries and the Harry Potter books are gone from the main book list. But where I have the reserve they are still there with no messages. So I'm going to leave them and see what happens.

Oh FFS!! grrr

They still show up in my holds list in both libraries for the audio & ebooks. When I search for them nothing shows up. When I click on the series title or author link, again nothing shows up.

This is just stupid & inexcusable. Why such high levels of incompetence surrounding this? It really shouldn't be that difficult. BAH!

I searched the main Overdrive site, no Harry Potter books or audiobooks. This can't be good.

They're all just listed as pre-release right now. Still searchable through Google. It's likely that they weren't supposed to put them on the search until Pottermore made its official announcements.

Well, that is the "glass is half full" way to look at it. Personally, given how screwed up Pottermore has been so far, I take the "glass is half empty" view and suggest that this means that the library books will be delayed.

That's not what I meant by an official announcement. That announcement didn't give a date, nor did it show the covers the books would be using. Overdrive was giving out additional information that hadn't been officially announced.

A piece of an email sent out by OverDrive this morning to libraries:

"In cooperation with Pottermore, we are developing agreed upon marketing and PR plans for this popular series. As such, we have temporarily suspended pre-sales and display of these titles at your library's website. We will resume the ability to pre-order the titles and prepare for launch in April after we have cleared the marketing plans with Pottermore."

Not sure what most of that really means.

I'll guess that it means Pottermore has to get their butt in gear & make the announcement so THEY can have the honor & not anyone else. It probably will also delay the buildup of the looooong waiting list for the ebooks through the library. Which is a good thing. How disappointed would you be to hear the annoucement that they're available and you're 362nd on the waiting list?

Pottermore hasn't even said it's going to open to John Q Public yet so if others hear through the grapevine that the ebooks will be available on XYZ date that could mean the Pottermore store and thus the Pottermore site may be ready for the rest of us mortals which would be an unofficial annoucement that they're opening and if made by someone other than Pottermore would take the wind out of their sails when they ultimately make the announcement.

How'd you like that run-on??? LOL

(sorry. I have a twisted sense of humor)
