Two biggest questions on my mind:

1. Display
2. CPU

All I've seen is speculation. Single core seems likely, but not all single cores are equal. Fringe field flux capacitor or-whatever-the-hell display has been mentioned but other than some patent sketches I have no idea what the heck that means in action.

I'm not sure what people are expecting but my guess is more than what will be offered.
The Amazon 10 inch is the one tech pundits should be more interested in.
My sentiment exactly, the only thing I'm expecting from Amazon is the nook color 2. At the same price or $20 less.

Im just not too excited about what Amazon will bring. Now if they provide a nook color2 with free 3G well then that's something worth getting excited about, but i seriously doubt it.

Two words- Nook Color.

Like many posters here I'm about 95 per confident that the KTab will mirror the NCs specs almost word for word-with a few variations like support for MOBI not EPUB. If you like THIS, you'll like the KTab.
You might see a slight bump up in some stats (this is the last year's NC, after all), but essentially you'll be getting Amazon's version of the NC, hardware wise, IMO.

Well that's a good thing, isn't it? I've heard nothing but praise for the NC's display. I imagine the Ktab may have a more current cpu.

It's good thing.I think Amazon's tablet will sell like hotcakes. The people who like Amazon-and they are legion-will flock to it, including many who will upgrade from a Kindle. It will be the Kindle Plus for them.
Won't be no IPad killer, though-much to disappointment of the crowd that thinks the iPad is overpriced, Apple is evil, etc, etc.

Amazon's 10" tablet is going to be a more direct competitor to iPad- but it will kill off the other 10" Android tablets first.

If I bought one it wouldn't be an upgrade from my Kindle any more than it would be an upgrade from my toaster (no snark intended). It's a completely different device, per my use at least. News reading/viewing, magazines, maybe some games here and there.

Putting the CPU issue in perspective, the Iconia 7" tab at $350 has a tegra2 and 1 gig of ram. If Amazon is able to utilize their buying clout with manufacturers, and is willing to sell at a slim margin while banking on content sales(or the rumored loss, which I doubt), it seems they may be able to pull some respectable hardware at $250.

Nook Color 2 will be enough tablet for most people.

So I thought, but after purchasing my nook I just don't see any reason to use my kindle anymore. I do miss being able to read in direct sunlight but for the most part the nook is my primary eReader. But the freedom and portability of a 7" Android device is hard to beat. The nook handles PDF, ePUB, and MOBI better than the original nook and kindles.

I can't believe that you guys are still getting mileage out of this. I feel like we're at the wait and see stage as it really isn't all that long now if the rumours bear fruit.

Honestly, all the latest rumors of the Amazon tablet are underwhelming. Why would I spend $250 for what is essentially a Nook Color under the hood with an Amazon OS and a 2 finger capacitive screen?

The question will be if the NooK Color 2 will be released to replace the Nook Color or be a larger screen to supplement it?

Well, if you like the Amazon experience .... You may not but there are a gazillion people who do. They will be very happy to buy this offering.
I think the NC 2 will be to the NC 1 as the iPad 2 to the iPad 1- an evolutionary bump up. Why screw around with success?
