Thanks for all the kind words, folks. We're watching the news right now, and the real extent of the disaster up north is becoming frightening... Hundreds of miles of coastal villages and towns have been destroyed by the tsunami! They are even evacuating the towns near a nuclear reactor as that seems to have been damaged too! Despite the fact that there were no really huge cities in the areas affected, the extent of the damage is simply outrageous!

talk about accent: it's hard for me to express myself. I only speak Vietnamese and English and both of them are a mixture of accents :|

For my mother tongue, my family is from the Northern of the country, and parents moved to the Southern part, where I was born and brought up, where I spent my first 18 years. Now I live in the Northern part to study university. a bit complicated, when people hear my accent they always ask me which part of Vietnam I come from, and I cannot make a brief answer right away.

(3 parts of Vietnam have 3 very different accents. Fortunately enough, I have had nothing to do with the Central of Vietnam )

and for English, er, my accent is a mess.

It's amazing that the death toll is as low as it is (1300 at this time.) Having been through the tsunami in Phuket, Thailand in 2004, this is almost benign. But the level of property destruction from the tsunami is unbelievable!

Thanks, Shel. I was suddenly called out of town several days ago, and didn't have access to a computer that I could use for fun while I was gone.

I almost feel guilty that I was enjoying myself while you folks were worried about me... Almost.

We were in Phuket the day before the tsunami, we left on the Thursday, 23?.
I was there 3 months later, visa run, and I was shocked, I couldn't believe the damage, and the rebuilding, it was amazing how fast they got things back to "Normal".

As everyone has said, it's great to have you back, we expect frequent updates to your whereabouts from now on, to facilitate this, you'll be receiving a package containing a GPS tracking device, please attach it to your ankle.
