While I certainly don't mind having lots of sex in my books, it needs to be justified sex. As in, it makes sense within the plot and the character context, and isn't just used as filler/crutch to make up for the fact that the book has very little else going for it. If I wanted to be exposed to second rate writers using sex for filler material, I'd watch prime-time TV.

some of my favorite series I started later turned into exactly that. The first few books had a good plot going but it's like the later books became more and more filler.

(And please not Carolyn McCray.) And to paraphrase what I said earlier, if I want filler sex without plot, I'll read erotica. Though the line between the two is fine and often blurry, there does need to be something that distinguishes erotic romance from straight up erotica... preferably a solid plot and character development.

Karen Rose Daniel Vartanian Trilogy J. A. Konrath Jack Daniels Series (excellent in audio) Alex Kava Maggie O'Dell Series Susan Hill Simon Serrailler Series (not your typical series) Tess Gerritsen Rizzoli and Isles Series (nothing like the TV show) There's some off the top of my head. I've read all those and enjoyed them. Well, listened to Konrath. And I guess I should say I"m still working my way through the Susan Hill series. They are not happy ending books. But I'm up to date on all the other series. S

It was supposedly the first in a "new series". The writer from whom she took an entire book changing only the character names and genders had already written 12 books in a series called "Texas Trouble" and it is quite obvious Ms. Harner had every intention of lifting those. You can read her post about it on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...98&pnref=story Also the entire Deuce Coop series was copied directly from Opal Carew's Riding Steele. Details here: http://jennytrout.com/?p=9693 Still expecting to hear about more of her thefts; there's a possibility the m/f Highland series she has out is also of questionable authorship but that has yet to be confirmed. Oh, and it's mentioned here on GoodReads that if you bought at Amazon, you can get a refund even after the date if you explain you're requesting it because of the admitted plagiarism. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...coop-episode-1 Editing to add this notice I just read on Becky McGraw's Facebook page: (quote) **NOTICE** If anyone has a copy of the Deuce Coop serial books, in ebook or paperback, please contact OPAL CAREW and send them to her instead of requesting a refund. Opal's email is opalcarew@bestromanceauthors.com. (/quote) Am assuming this is part of whatever legal processes the wronged author and/or her publisher are engaged in. Evidence gathering? Anyway, there it is. Edit #2: It gets uglier. http://lworrall.blogspot.ca/2015/10/...5643dbaaee9459 And, among other shenanigans, she is now blaming her daughter for lifting the Deuce Coop series. Ye gods! I cannot believe anybody would stoop so low. Last edited by Byrdie; 10-27-2015 at 12:55 PM. Reason: Even More Information

Thanks for the Harlequin coupon-stacking tips. I waited until today to use them so I could get the new Avon historicals!

It's easy enough to strip the DRM and email a copy of an ebook if you want to. Normally I would not do that (send a copy via email--I strip the DRM from everything I buy) but I wouldn't have a problem doing that if I had a copy of the requested plagurized book.
