Just FYI. According to an email I got from Macmillan this is a one day deal and should be available at Kobo, Google, B&N and Apple as well.

Midnight Alley is the second title in this series. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US. Like Kind of Blue, it goes up and down in price a bit, but doesn't stay on sale for very long, so grab it if you want it.

link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PN94UM

Spoiler:
Quote:
Ash Levine, the top detective in the LAPD's elite Felony Special Squad, is called out to solve the murder of two young black men found shot to death in a Venice alley. The case is a high priority because one of the victims is the son of City Councilman Isaac Pinkney, a frequent critic of the LAPD. Searching for the killer throws Levine into the world of Los Angeles's Russian Mafia, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans, and Middle Eastern archeologists. Ash's history as a child of a Holocaust survivor gives him a unique perspective on murder, redemption, and justice. His background as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces, and his relentless, single-minded focus on his investigations make him a thoroughly absorbing character. As Ash closes in on the killer, the investigation becomes increasingly complex - and personal. Ash soon discovers that he is not just an investigator, but a target.

Another one of the "most recent" titles going on sale - Black Widow is the 16th and most recent in the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva. It has dropped to $3.99 as part of a HarperCollins sale that says it's on through Nov 29, and should be good at all major ebook sellers, and at HC.com.

Kindle US link: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Widow-G...dp/B016UE6KTO/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller

“Fascinating, suspenseful, and bated-breath exciting…. Silva proves once again that he can rework familiar genre material and bring it to new life.”
Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Silva builds suspense like a symphony conductor.... A winner on all fronts.”
Booklist, starred review

Bestselling author Daniel Silva delivers another spellbinding international thriller—one that finds the legendary Gabriel Allon grappling with an ISIS mastermind.

Gabriel Allon, the art restorer, spy, and assassin described as the most compelling fictional creation "since Ian Fleming put down his martini and invented James Bond" (Rocky Mountain News), is poised to become the chief of Israel’s secret intelligence service. But on the eve of his promotion, events conspire to lure him into the field for one final operation. ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the Marais district of Paris, and a desperate French government wants Gabriel to eliminate the man responsible before he can strike again.

Acclaimed novelist Daniel Silva has thrilled, entertained and educated readers with eighteen thoughtful and gripping spy novels featuring a diverse cast of compelling characters and ingenious plots that have taken them around the globe and back—from the United States to Europe, Russia to the Middle East. From its shocking opening to its explosive denouement in Washington, D.C., The Black Widow reveals itself as Silva’s most timely and powerful novel yet. Following the success of his smash hit The English Spy, this electrifying thriller showcases Silva’s consummate skill and brilliant imagination, and is sure to be a must read for his multitude of current and future fans.

A Going Concern is the 14th title in the awesome CD Sloan (and Constable Crosby) series by Catherine Aird. Aird is one of my top five favorite mystery authors, so I'm always happy to see a title of hers on sale.

Concern has dropped to $1.99 as one of Open Road's Early Bird titles of the day. Per Open Road's email, this price should be good at all of the usual retailers.

Amaz US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VUC3I7E
Kobo US (couponable, if you have any coupons left): https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/a-going-concern

Spoiler:
Quote:
A bizarre clause in an elderly woman’s will exposes a dirty secret and a ruthless killing in this absorbing mystery from Diamond Dagger winner Catherine Aird

It was an odd request, but when Octavia Garamond passed away, she left explicit instructions in her will: The police must be present at her funeral, and the coroner should be exceptionally thorough when examining her body.

Amelia Kennerly is perplexed to find herself the sole executor of her great-aunt’s will, as she barely knew her. Further questions arise when the local parson, Mr. Fournier, is anything but happy to conduct Octavia’s service. Then someone breaks into Octavia’s home and tears the house apart. It seems the old lady’s words may have been eerily prescient: “Hell is empty, and all the devils are here.”

“Every Flavia de Luce novel is a reason to celebrate.”—USA Today

ALAN BRADLEY, AUTHOR OF THE MOST AWARD-WINNING SERIES DEBUT OF ANY YEAR, RETURNS WITH ANOTHER IRRESISTIBLE FLAVIA DE LUCE NOVEL.

“[Alan] Bradley has created one of the most original, charming, devilishly creative and hilarious detectives of any age or any time.”—Bookreporter

It’s Christmastime, and Flavia de Luce—an eleven-year-old sleuth with a passion for chemistry—is tucked away in her laboratory, whipping up a concoction to ensnare Saint Nick. But she is soon distracted when a film crew arrives at Buckshaw, the de Luces’ decaying English estate, to shoot a movie starring the famed Phyllis Wyvern. Amid a raging blizzard, the entire village of Bishop’s Lacey gathers at Buckshaw to watch Wyvern perform, yet nobody is prepared for the evening’s shocking conclusion: a body found strangled to death with a length of film. But who among the assembled guests would stage such a chilling scene? As the storm worsens and the list of suspects grows, Flavia must ferret out a killer hidden in plain sight.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Alan Bradley's Speaking from Among the Bones.

“[Flavia is] the most intrepid and charming adolescent chemist/detective/busybody in all of rural, post–World War II England.”—The Seattle Times

“Quirky and delightful . . . Flavia is a classic literary character who manages to appeal to both young and old readers equally.”—Wichita Falls Times Record News

“Bradley’s plot twists and turns delightfully.”—Fort Worth Star-Telegram

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST MYSTERIES OF THE YEAR BY THE SEATTLE TIMES

A bunch of Joanne Fluke cozies from the Hannah Swensen series are $1.99 at Kindle US, presumably as part of today's Cyber Monday sales. The link below gives the cozies, and also a stray cookbook and one non-cozy looking Fluke title. Not my cup of tea, but may be yours...

The Man from St. Petersburg by Ken Follett has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Man-St-Peters...dp/B0024CEY36/

Spoiler:
Quote:
"Ken Follett has done it once more . . . goes down with the ease and impact of a well-prepared martini." —New York Times Book Review

His name was Feliks. He came to London to commit a murder that would change history. A master manipulator, he had many weapons at his command, but against him were ranged the whole of the English police, a brilliant and powerful lord, and the young Winston Churchill himself. These odds would have stopped any man in the world—except the man from St. Petersburg.

Lost in a Good Book is the second in the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US. One of my best friends swears by this series, although I haven't tried it. There was a sale on an omnibus of the first three titles in this series a while back, so check carefully before you buy.

link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OCXHCC

Spoiler:
Quote:
The second installment in Jasper Fforde’s New York Times bestselling series follows literary detective Thursday Next on another adventure in her alternate reality of literature-obsessed England

The inventive, exuberant, and totally original literary fun that began with The Eyre Affair continues with New York Times bestselling author Jasper Fforde’s magnificent second adventure starring the resourceful, fearless literary sleuth Thursday Next. When Landen, the love of her life, is eradicated by the corrupt multinational Goliath Corporation, Thursday must moonlight as a Prose Resource Operative of Jurisfiction—the police force inside the BookWorld. She is apprenticed to the man-hating Miss Havisham from Dickens’s Great Expectations, who grudgingly shows Thursday the ropes. And she gains just enough skill to get herself in a real mess entering the pages of Poe’s “The Raven.” What she really wants is to get Landen back. But this latest mission is not without further complications. Along with jumping into the works of Kafka and Austen, and even Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, Thursday finds herself the target of a series of potentially lethal coincidences, the authenticator of a newly discovered play by the Bard himself, and the only one who can prevent an unidentifiable pink sludge from engulfing all life on Earth. It’s another genre-bending blend of crime fiction, fantasy, and top-drawer literary entertainment for fans of Douglas Adams and P. G. Wodehouse. Thursday’s zany investigations continue with The Well of Lost Plots. Look for the five other bestselling Thursday Next novels, including One of Our Thursdays is Missing and Jasper Fforde’s latest bestseller, The Woman Who Died A Lot. Visit jasperfforde.com for a ffull window into the Ffordian world!

The Red Door is the 12th in the Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery series by Charles Todd. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

Spoiler:
Quote:
“One of the best historical series being written today.”
Washington Post Book World

The accolades keep pouring in for Charles Todd and his New York Times Notable, Edgar Award-nominated series featuring British police inspector and shell-shocked World War I veteran Ian Rutledge. In The Red Door, a disturbing puzzle surrounding a lie, a disappearance, and a woman’s death ensnares the haunted investigator. Richly atmospheric and unputdownable, The Red Door proves once more that New York Times bestseller Charles Todd belongs in the august company of Ruth Rendell, Anne Perry, Martha Grimes, Ian Ransom, Peter Robinson, P.D. James, and the other contemporary masters of British mystery.

Jack of Spies is the first in the Jack McColl series by David Downing, who is also the author of the "Station" series of spy thrillers. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US. When checking SYKM for info on this book, I noticed that the third title in this series, due out in 2017, is Lenin's Roller Coaster. That has to be up on the list of great titles, IMO...

link: https://www.amazon.com/Jack-Spies-Mc...dp/B00H12CP58/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Set on the eve of the First World War, across oceans and continents, steamliners and cross-country trains, David Downing’s complex and thrilling new espionage novel takes us all the way back to the dawn of that most fascinating of 20th century characters—the spy.

It is 1913, and those who follow the news closely can see the world is teetering on the brink of war. Jack McColl, a Scottish car salesman with an uncanny ear for languages, has always hoped to make a job for himself as a spy. As his sales calls take him from city to great city—Hong Kong to Shanghai to San Francisco to New York—he moonlights collecting intelligence for His Majesty's Secret Service, but British espionage is in its infancy and Jack has nothing but a shoestring budget and the very tenuous protection of a boss in far-away London. He knows, though, that a geopolitical catastrophe is brewing, and now is both the moment to prove himself and the moment his country needs him most.

Unfortunately, this is also the moment he begins to realize what his aspiration might cost him. He understands his life is at stake when activities in China suddenly escalate from innocent data-gathering and casual strolls along German military concessions to arrest warrants and knife attacks. Meanwhile, a sharp, vivacious American suffragette journalist has wiled her way deep into his affections, and it is not long before he realizes that her Irish-American family might be embroiled in the Irish Republican movement Jack's bosses are fighting against. How can he choose between his country and the woman he loves? And would he even be able to make such a choice without losing both?

Unscrewed is the third in the Chrissy McMullen series by Lois Greiman. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NJL7LO

Spoiler:
Quote:
L.A. homicide detective Jack Rivera has a killer body, a wicked smile, and a velvet touch. Just ask Christina McMullen. The cocktail-waitress-turned-psychologist has handled obsessed patients, love-struck drunks, and her own guilt-tripping mother with aplomb. But when it comes to the lieutenant, Chrissy has an old-fashioned case of irresistible attraction—until things turn fatal when Rivera is accused of murder!

Not only was Rivera found unconscious next to a dead woman, but the victim was his beautiful ex-girlfriend—who left Rivera for his wealthy dad. Chrissy detects a few father-and-son issues—along with plenty of evidence that her would-be boyfriend is guilty. But when she starts looking into the dead woman’s past, a rich senator’s connections, and Rivera’s relationship with his mother, will she discover there’s hope for her and Rivera after all? Or will her curiosity have deadly consequences?

Murder at the Breakers is the first in the Gilded Newport series by Alyssa Maxwell. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Murder-Breake...dp/B00FH1IBYE/

Spoiler:
Quote:
As the nineteenth century comes to a close, the illustrious Vanderbilt family dominates Newport, Rhode Island, high society. But when murder darkens a glittering affair at the Vanderbilt summer home, reporter Emma Cross learns that sometimes the actions of the cream of society can curdle one's blood. . .

Newport, Rhode Island, August 1895: She may be a less well-heeled relation, but as second cousin to millionaire patriarch Cornelius Vanderbilt, twenty-one-year-old Emma Cross is on the guest list for a grand ball at the Breakers, the Vanderbilts' summer home. She also has a job to do--report on the event for the society page of the Newport Observer.

But Emma observes much more than glitz and gaiety when she witnesses a murder. The victim is Cornelius Vanderbilt's financial secretary, who plunges off a balcony faster than falling stock prices. Emma's black sheep brother Brady is found in Cornelius's bedroom passed out next to a bottle of bourbon and stolen plans for a new railroad line. Brady has barely come to before the police have arrested him for the murder. But Emma is sure someone is trying to railroad her brother and resolves to find the real killer at any cost. . .
