I redd. You redd. They redd.

The author's latest novel is a good book.

I have spoken.

Ten-Four Good Buddy, I read you!

Reinstall seems to be working. It's now in cycle of finishing the install and rebooting. Iirc this will take a while.

On the bright side: I think with this Windows install start I'll install the Windows 7 upgrade I got over a year ago on Sunday.

Ah the joys of OS reinstalls. Just migrated my wife (who's the author) from Ubuntu 8.04 -> 10.10 and a new hard drive... that should last her another 2 years at least before I need to upgrade again

Not just reinstalling but doing it in the middle of the night (nearly 1am now). But it's working again. I guess I rebooted when it was still busy with the updates (maybe video card or something). I'm very tempted to install all of "my" own programs now and uninstall all the bloatware. But it's late and I suspect it might be better to install Windows 7 on a machine that's as clean as possible.

Now off to finish my chapter and then sleep, I have to work tomorrow and I don't want to be too bitchy.

Bugger! I decided to try the book club read thing for the first time. I'm not a big reader, but hanging around here, well it sort of rubs off on you doesn't it? Well, before I've got a couple of pages into the book of the month everyone's mouthing off about the book that's not supposed to be discussed until the 20th. Discussing the plot, the romance, the send up of upper society. I don't feel like finishing the bloody thing now.

Hmmm, they are not supposed to discuss the book in the voting thread. Is that where it's happening?

bloke ordered all the bits for my computer last week and it seemed to be taking a long long time to come in.

Yesterday they send an email telling us that the motherboard is no longer available and would we like to swap it for something else?

When he ordered it it was supposed to be in stock!

I am getting used to dual laptops, but I would like a big computer too!

I am a big sook!

SneakySnake,

Had to laugh, similar happened here - ordered 2 x 2.5" 7200rpm 250GB drives that were "in stock" and overnight shipping. 3 days later I see only 1 is allocated and the other is marked "backorder" (WTH!?). Finally after much stuffing around I managed to get two different 250GB drives with the same spec and all was at last delivered. A real pain though that these stock-level issues crop up all too often and you don't realise until /after/ you've committed your cash to the purchase.

Hmm, I'm reading it too -- I try to participate every month even if I don't discuss it -- but I haven't been ambushed by any discussion yet. On the other hand, even after the discussion starts I don't read any of the posts in the thread until I've finished that month's book. Is someone discussing it somewhere else?

I dunno. I was about to have a rant in the thread mentioned but thought better of it and posted here instead. Anyway I'm over it. I'll just unsubscribe next time and have a look later.
And . . . . . . . . .

I think you just sent them up here to FN-QLD again, ripping hot and strangely humid. I had hoped that after cyclone Yasi beat the daylights out of us that we'd get at least 2 weeks of lovely cool overcast weather, oh how wishful I can be.
