Yes, I see that I missed it before. Of course, that comparison list they only have one X on the Nook side.

Then again they don't list "Available internationally".

I've gotta say, this looks like a good solid competitor to the Kindle. But, if I put a 16GB SD card in there, and I have to scroll through the cover of all my 17,500 ebooks to find one, I would go insane.

Only one thing: It does not support folders, as Kindle.

Can you think browse over 3000 books with the finger?

Yeah. Even though the Opus has problems one thing that keeps me using it as opposed to my Kindle is the folders make finding things so easy.

They also have a 2 year protection plan which in addition to extending the warranty covers drops/spills/accidents.

A bit steep at $69.... but if you are always traveling with this, it may be worth it.

I work with a lot of scanned PDFs (screenplays). How can you tell if it supports scanned/ "image" PDFs or just digital ones?

I'm trying to decide between the Kindle DX and this...

Looks like it'd be real easy to accidentally buy an ebook while shopping, hope they do returns like Amazon does.

Doesn't look like there's a user manual for download???

Returns incur a 10% restocking fee if it's opened or the shrink wrap seal is removed. I guess if you wanna try it out go to the store and play with it a bit.

The one thing I'm concerned with are the turn page buttons... They're touch and I'm kind of disappointed. What if you accidentally brush your hand up against the button or touch it by accident. I'm sure it'll require a bit of pressure but even then I think a tactile hard button would have been better... We'll see though. Still can't wait to get one

No updates on the IREX website, so they might as well hide under a rock and die now that the nook and its glorious web site is up.

The only thing going for the IREX DR800SG is the Verizon coverage, included cover, and most importantly a higher resolution. Why can't e-ink make denser displays? I'll have to wait to see how the Nook handles viewing PDFs and Images (comics/manga).

Not sure if the nook will have a web browser like the kindle, but the IREX definitely does not:

Quote:
http://paidcontent.org/article/419-i...or-publishers/
—Web browsing disabled: The iRex doesn’t have e-mail and it won’t have web browsing. “We have the capability but purposely didn’t enable it,” says Hamilton. The Kindle includes an “experimental” bare-bones browser. “It’s not a very nice experience. The formats are off, it’s always garbled.” Plus, “somebody has to pay for the network time.”
Well, at least now I can use my American Express points to get BN gift cards towards this...

Just saw this. I'm am super-impressed. I think the only thing I don't like about it is the name.

In all seriousness, I've been sorting through readers for the past several months looking for "The perfect device." I've been quite pleased with the PRS-505, and actually picked one up for my dad. I didn't expect B&N to be releasing a device though, so I'm wondering if I should return it and pickup a Nook instead.

I'm impressed by the color screen at the bottom as a method of navigation and editing. We'll have to see how that works out. I wonder when these will be at my local store to check out...

Yes, I know. I was talking about book returns, not nook returns

You are SO right on this! I myself, even though I don't *think* I'm buying one, will go do a hands on as soon as I can. But I know someone will definitely beat me to it, since the nearest Barnes and Noble is over 40 miles away.

Think they will be in the store today? I have a B&N about 10 minutes from here.
