Yes, I did those steps and nothing happens after disconnecting from the computer.

Here is what my .kobo folder looks like:

You do not want a directory under .kobo for the three files in the firmware ZIP file. You want them in the root of the .kobo directory.

Probably. But, it will be in the driver in the next calibre release, so I am not in any hurry to to duplicate the work.

Thanks. I look forward to the next release of Calibre to be able to add pages and words to the eBook details.

Quick request: Could there be an option to update the word counts without re-sending the book?

Updating the new statistics will be part of the metadata updates. There is no need to resend the books.

Ditto on a Libra H20. Also, I can no longer adjust the line spacing (not patched) to the exact result I had prior to installing 4.32 and I don't like it. Perhaps there was a change made in the footer. As someone else previously reported, I too have experienced artifacts appearing from the go back/return to home arrow. I'm not planning on installing 4.32 on my other Kobos anytime soon.

Also, why does Kobo insist on a ridiculously large font size for entries in My Words? With every update I hope for a fix but it never happens.

If you did patch, you'd have consistent line height settings.

BTW, the algorithm kobo.com uses for calculating the read time range is:

Code:
HoursMax = round(WordCount / 200 / 60)
HoursMin = HoursMax - 1
if (HoursMax >= 10) {
        HoursMax += round((HoursMax + .5) / 10) - 1)
}
The word count and page number are from https://kobostats.azurewebsites.net/bookstats/{ISBN}. The word count seems to exclude front/back matter (but it includes tables and code blocks) (I'll try to figure out the details of this later), and the page count seems to have a linear relationship with the word count. Based on the data from a few hundred books, it seems to be the floor of the word count divided by 272 (this is perfect for nearly all of the books, and ~20-40 pages too large for some older ones, which makes me think they were either calculated differently at that time or manually overridden).

___

The device (i.e., storeapi) seems to use the same algorithm, except that the max hour adjustment is floored instead of rounded (is this a bug?):

Code:
HoursMax = round(WordCount / 200 / 60)
HoursMin = HoursMax - 1
if (HoursMax >= 10) {
        HoursMax += floor((HoursMax + .5) / 10) - 1)
}
Also note that the on-device KEPUB word counter (i.e., HtmlUtility::countWords) counts differently than the Kobo Store.

Thanks.
The only one problem with this is that you need to enter too deep to see the word count.
And after you cannot order by this word count (or pages count or read time, more or less is the same).
I think is better a pages or estimated read time than the kB of the book in the first information.
The kB can be used to know if the book have a lot of images, but to decide the next book to read is best the estimated reading time.
(Cold be I am wrong and the kB of the book is more important.....).
I write a path request in the kobopath thread to a posible path for this, but I don't know if this is possible.

In other news, upon updating to this patch, my Kobo is willing to communicate with the PC via a Type-C USB cord again.

I haven't hunted around for that sort of thing. I'm interested that they are calculating the time read on the fly in the store. Are you sure about the words per page? They used 320 when they had the full-book page numbering.

Can you give some info on how to add these custom columns to Calibre? I'm a little confused by the program:$$#page syntax. For example, I have a custom int column with a lookup name of #pages -- how would I rename that column for it to be recognized?
