Cows are tastey. There is never any needless violence involved.

Also, to save the cows you need to abandon items manufactured with processes using hydraulics. That would include most metals and plastics. Decades ago hydraulic fluids moved to focusing on various forms of glycol. ..which is made using stearic acid...which in turn is rendered from the stomachs of cows.

So do be consistant.

I can tell several of you really want to discuss this vegan/leather issue. So, in order to help you out, here are the directions on where to participate.

The religion and politics thread is opt in and if you opt in you must be comfortable dealing with alternative viewpoints. Anyway below is the post that explains how to opt in to the thread. There is a post there on the topic.

This video review of a Walnut covered Oasis leads us to believe the Walnut is probably "nubuck". Especially note about the 1 minute mark.

You do realise vegan/vegetarianism is a modern western phenomenon that more or less did not exist prior to the hippie outbreak during the 60's?

You may say now that you don't require the benefits of eating meat with all your modern vitamin supplements, which can cause cancer by the way but don't try making others feel bad for your lifestyle choice.

I would consider it unkind and unethical to remove much needed natural proteins to my children,God gave man dominion over the rest of creation in this world not the other way round!

I thought a moderator had already ruled against having this sort of discussion in this thread, or is it permitted if one makes such mis-informative posts as this one?

I am awaiting a moderator decision on a few posts in this thread.
Yes, eschwartz did say to please watch it on the vegan posts.

Now the discussion is great downstairs or down in the forum it belongs.

The off-topic arguments/disussion of the history and/or merits of veganisim will stop immediately. Take it to the P&R thread if you wish to continue it. That's why it exists. No further interruptions of this thread with this sort of nonsense will be tolerated.

I did also and the price was certainly justified (PRS 500). But if you could have got a different reader with basically the same technology at a price significantly less expensive wouldn't have you have gone for that?

Funny thing about the "My Kindle Oasis has Arrived" ... mine hasn't but Amazon is already delivering any books I buy to it as the default even though it's not been turned on and activated. :P

In 2010 (I think?) I got my Sony prs 650 with official cover for $240. That seemed expensive at the time. I just can't get over paying $310 for an ereader when you can get an iPad for $399. (I realize that these have different uses, of course. It just blows my mind that an ereader costs almost as much as an iPad).

My most expensive ereader was the Sony PRS 600, for which I paid £250 without a case. Nowadays I won't spend anywhere near that much on an ereader. I paid £150 for my Voyage.
