And I tend to think darker than most. Being that way is worse than being a clown when it comes to getting to know people.
Funny is easier to react to - ppl KNOW what reaction is required. Sad is harder. Do you go for the 'cry when you're crying' approach, or the 'cheer em up' approach, or the 'tell em how much worse things could be', or just tell them to get the hell over it? (cos THAT helps). My theory? We humans naturally empathise, so we feel similar to the other person - and most of us react badly to sadness in ourselves. Hence, we try to 'fix' it in the other person ASAP, with whatever methodology we use on ourselves when sad and needing to get over it fast.

(oh yeah, I philosophise too easily... )

nyer nyer nyer I am all clean! Hair still wet and dark blue kitty pyjamas on.

I did probably stink a bit because I did not shower after yoga today, but that's all fixed now. I read my book until 4.45pm then layed in the bath reading a very exciting CPA magazine, and now I get out all clean to find you thinking I stink!

That makes sense.
I've spent too many years keeping things to myself and they kinda became one big bad feeling that picked up all the new little bad things and got out of control for a long time.
I finally figured out, all on my lonesome, that if I vented the venom/ bad feeling, no matter what reaction I got, it helped shrink the big bad feeling.
The problem remains that what I vent is so tangled up and deeply rooted that I can rarely vocalize it in a clear manner. I just sound really crazy. Scare people crazy.
But just being able to finally tell someone really helps. You, Kindlekitten and Marc are the only people I can say these things to and not get that "Ignore him" vibe.

I love you recluse. Sometimes the piss off cup gets really full(you can only hold so much) and we need a way to drain some out before it overflows. Unfortunately (in my case) the draining of this piss off cup does not make sense to many others. I am guessing we all feel a bit like that sometimes.

I hope you can feel the hugglyvibes I am sending.

I love you, too, you little stinker.

Even your huggyvibes could use a good scrub and some baby powder.

Speaking of parmigiana, he's currently making a mushroom risotto, and we bought a nice block of Parmigiano-Reggiano today. That cheese I could just sit and eat a big block of by itself...my favourite cheese. I just had a nice bite of it, just by itself. Mmmmm.

Uh huh. Charting internal territory and talking stuff through takes time (I'm a master at talking ABOUT talking about stuff... ). Sometimes the map says 'Here be dragons' for years...

(there's no dragon smilies!!!)

I vent frequently at work, but I still think we need a boxing bag and a yoga teacher. Box, stretch, meditate, work, box, stretch, meditate.

Marc, my love, mention one more thing about your dinner and I'll be heading for Noosa post-haste to beg for leftovers....

afa, sounds like some of my days!

For dessert, I had a slab of the locally made Lief Chocolate (the "three kinds" one...made by a couple of guys we know, live up in the hills behind Eumundi. High quality, lovely stuff, them and the chocolate ).

I try not to do the Pollyanna approach (aka things could be worse/other people have it worse than you) as I don't want to be smacked in the gob; which is my reaction when people do that to me.

If there's no-one around to vent at, I find writing things down and/or drawing the issues helps. Often, it helps more than venting to/at someone. Mostly because I don't do the "opening up to others" thing very well. At all.

Mm-mm, Parmigiano-Reggiano. Nothing compares to it in Alfredo sauce, risotto, chicken/eggplant/anything Parmigiana, Caesar salad.... or just by itself. It is very pricey here. We can buy a large wedge at our local Costco (member wholesale club).

Mm-mm, mushroom risotto. I picked up some fresh wild morels at the farmers' market this week and have been wondering what to do with them other than the classic omelette.

Good eats, WDE
