Sorry to hear these sad news. Though it has given me some blues, my dr1000s still beats many devices on the market, if not all, based on my requirements.

I can't say they've done the best I'd expect in terms of software updates etc, but what they provided at the end was (and is) still better than many giant corporations. Now I have to hope that my dr1000s does not break down again. Or else I'll have to look for a replacement, which I still do not see around. Plastic logic device is still to become available, and none of the new devices offer the combination of large screen + pen annotation + e-ink. Really bad news.. |

Well, I knew of iRex products before I visited this forum, but it was the activity and contributors [including iRex developers] here that persuaded me to buy the DR800SG. And I'm very glad that I did --- nothing else out there is really as satisfactory for my purposes. And if I could find another one, I could easily find a colleague who would buy it.

question will be if they can manage to get something going again. they should lower the price though, but it should work. |

I "repaired" my Iliad (black lines problem)

			Quote:

I bent the long circuitboard parallel to the page-bar a little, by putting a piece of paper, a few times folded, at the edge, so it puts it under a little bit of strain and now my screen looks like brand new! It appears to me the black line problem is caused by the manifacturing process. I am quite happy again with my Iliad, although it is quite slow (maybe because of battery-saving). I have the very primitive Epub-reader on board - wish it did a better job - no margins, no formatting at the moment. I found out about Calibre (very nice program). It can convert e-book formats. So I am enthusiastic again. I was one of the early owners of an Iliad. Henk |

There are some promising tweets regarding the continuation of the company formerly known as Irex. Check this link: http://tinyurl.com/2crgujz. (It's poorly translated by google..) For the Dutch article: http://tinyurl.com/26ta3zo

The liquidator thinks he knows which company will continue Irex's activities by the end of July. Perhaps the 28 workers keep their jobs because they have the necessary expertise. |

So now Irex is bankrupted. I wonder if when someone take over the company, will the device that I sent in to be fixed will resume the repairment and be given back to me? I am trying to be optimistic here.

	Any idea? Thanks |

Since iRex goes bankrupt, all assets holding by iRex are to be shared by all iRex's creditors. The device that you sent to iRex is still your property (as long as you can prove it), not iRex's, you should be equitable to claim it back from iRex with the liquidator's or bankrupt-administrator's consent. However, how can we repair our iRex devices without iRex? Added: Have you got the refund before iRex went bankrupt? If not, you may have to wait for some time (the process of liquidation) to get only partial of the amount. Last edited by ericshliao; 07-09-2010 at 09:57 AM. |
