Since this new JB firmware was supposed to be released, oh, last December?, I'd say that gives you Lite users a while to wait.

tselling, want to mod 0.35e?

I actually gave it a try last night, but I got immediate failure when trying to update with the modified firmware so it looks like it will take a bit more research on what checks this firmware does.

Just upgraded fine from .33g (or maybe it was h) to .35d (which is what is linked on jetbook.net).

I can report nothing popped up in my 'formats' folder fillled with misc unsupported file types -- so no new format support has been added.

V35e has a big bug.. so it seems.

jBook cannot remember the zoom level. It always, always opens the book at 200% zoom, even for the most recently read. The font size looks humongous at 200%. You need to reset the font size every time you switch between books!

I couldn't now downgrade it to v35d (the official one), because when I did, it said on the screen: "Firmware Upgrade failed, please use firmware version higher than v0.31".

What the..

I'm stuck with a bad firmware now.

Any help??

greenapple, this is the behavior of the ADE firmware both on the jetBook and the Libre. You'll see this on ePUB or PDF since they are opened with ADE, but not other formats. I don't like it at all but consider the tradeoff worth it to get ePUB Table of Contents and PDF Reflow. I'm not sure what you can do to get around it... presumably it is a bad "feature" of Adobe Digital Editions?

Thanks, Kralik.

So I guess I have to get used to this inconvenience.

But I do like the PDF reflow though. It works a lot better than my what iRiver Story could.

Btw I managed to downgrade the firmware to v35a, but the zoom bug's there too. So I flashed it back up to v35e again.

I couldn't upgrade to v35d from v35a. Looks like v35d is a belated April Fool's joke from Ectaco. Nice.

I am still not sure why my modified 35e isn't loading. Has anyone else had any insights as to what changed in the loading code?

Apparently someone got 0.35d working. BUT, I noticed that the new JBLite beta firmware saves the font size and fixes a bad bug... maybe someone with an account on Ectaco's forum could complain and get some results? Not a bad turn around.

See: http://www.ectaco.com/ectaco-posts/list/20002.page

And, beta testing thread:

What does the the new firmware upgrade change? And if it does change or add features how do you use them?

Is there a link to a Ectaco page that explains the changes in detail?

Adds ADE, ePUB DRM support, ePUB Table of Contents support, PDF Reflow. Apparently also B&N ePUBs works. On the downside:

ADE has irritating page numbers in the margins for ePUB.
Neither ePUB nor PDF remember zoom/reflow settings per book.

I've been trying out the pdf reflow on a variety of text-based pdf files for a day now. Ectaco seems to have found a very competent reflow engine. It works exceedingly well. It does away the need to convert pdf format to epub.

They've also tweaked the line spacing for epub, I think. It's not as wide now and a lot more readable.

Hope we don't have to wait for months for the bug fix on zoom settings. How could they've missed that one?

I cannot do an upgrade from 0.35a to 0.35d. It says that I need a firmware version higher than 0.31 ????

Am I stuck on 0.35a or is there any way in upgrading to future versions?

Hi wyrm, get v0.35e instead.

I couldn't upgrade from 0.33g and v0.35a to 0.35d either. Something is very wrong with v0.35d.

v0.35a and v0.35e are cool. You could upgrade and downgrade between these 2 versions w/o any problem.

I'd like that, but the aforementioned link is dead. Is there another place where I can download it?
