Just home from the Petunia Festival - Saturday night is concert night. We went to see a band named Kirkland, that a girl I worked with is lead singer for. That also means all the "cool kids" from my job were there (and drunk). I have enough blackmail material to keep me in the easy jobs for the next few months *grin*.
Got to meet up with BadGoodDeb and Rebarnmom today (well, I'd already met Rebarnmom). We had fun wandering through the art show part of the Festival, and playing with Deb's toys. I got sunburned to go with the rest of my list of injuries, LOL.

Doing a total rebuilt on my 40 gallon aquarium. The trick to keeping those fish alive is to spend money....on water! For a decade I lost fish steadily after buying them. Then I kept some soft water Killifish. I used distilled water and added back in the electrolytes. Fish suddenly became nearly immortal... But... $10-$15 a week for water...

<I don't keep dobermans or perch.>

Hmmm.... Maybe I should drink the distilled water....

actually he's not. my sister is the Queen of an Egyptian River. I've been trying to get this dialogue regarding getting them out of their 3 story mountain house in New Mexico going for about 3 years now and she has been avoiding it. our family friend who happens to be a social worker and a hospice worker is going to give her a healthy cup of reality check today.

I got burned pretty badly by a firework one New Years in Germany. I was fairly drunk, but someone even drunker handed me a lit flare. by the time I realized what I was holding the sparks had embeded into my thumbnail and burned about half the skin on the outside of my thumb. took about a year and a half to recover from that.

I have been hearing a new owl on my property for the last month or so. yesterday I got a really good look at TWO of them. I'm trying to identify them by sound right now. Arwen wants to take apart the laptop and get the noisy thing inside!

Have you looked into buying a distiller. They aren't all that expensive and if you use a lot of distilled water it could pay for itself pretty quickly. I was thinking of getting one because I need to use distilled water in my CPAP. however, I don't think we spend as much on it as you mentioned there.
