I'd bark too!
It definitely is cruel. If the dog is not in the house, it's not a guard dog. You can't chain a dog like that and not care for it. It's plain wrong.

I've sworn off having any other animal after my cats.
Animals have instincts that we need to curb to maintain order in a household. It is wrong to force them and next to impossible. They were made to be that way they are not ours to subjugate...
Having a companion animal can only be done with its access to total freedom when it feels like it.

He's not chained, but is in a pen (chain-link fence) 10 feet x 10 feet or so. He also get's the muzzle put on him at times (probably when people complain).

Buts that's what cats do. Are all pet cats in Denver supposed to be kept indoors all the time?

Our cat spends his day in and out. If I am home all day, then he is in and out more. Sometimes I think he gets me to open the door just to assert his authority, especially when he comes in the front door and straight out the back door. wah wahhing all the time. Bossy little bar*d. Sometimes he wah wahhs at the back door (expecially when you are busy) so you think he wants in, only to be told when you get to the door that you need to run the brush over his back. He does this by looking at you, and then at the brushing table, and then back at you. If you mention the word brush, he leaps onto the table and assumes the position. I should take a video of this to prove it.

I hope I don't get told to keep him in all the time, it would drive us both crazy. I don't want my little mate to be a prisoner.

I always allow my maltese to decide what he wants to do. If he wants to go sun himself on the deck, he sits by the door and waits for me to let him out. He wants to come in, same deal. He gets to choose if he wants to join me when I go out for the mail or for a ride in the car. He picks the route when we go for our walks. He has favorites that vary week to week. He moves his bed where he wants it, has his little "I want to be alone" moments and his "Let's go nuts!" moments. So do I and he lets me have them when I need them. As far as I'm concerned, he's not my pet, I'm not his master. He's my brother. Just like every dog I shared my life with before him.

Stupid, incompetent, arrogant, waste of space Royal Mail .
There is no way to stop them delivering unaddressed litter to my home. I've tried registering (umpteen times) for the scheme they claim lets you opt out - what they say is a pack of lies, and registering is a waste of time.
I've tried raising a complaint on more than one ocassion, but nothing gets done - they could not care less.
From now on a post box is a litterbox as far as I'm concerned, I shall treat them the way they treat me.

In the UK dog keepers have to clear up after their dogs; I dunno why cat keepers aren't expected to do the same.

Cat crap - gift of the gods, or a messy nuisance?
You decide, I'm heading for the hills.

True, but at least cats are a bit more discrete and hygienic about it.

If someone did complain (as the warning said -- other than just the damned city employee) then that must be what they are thinking...

Every time I'm in the back yard I smell the dog shit from the house behind....yeah, the ones with the dog in the pen....

you need to complain daily until that dog is taken care of or removed. and if they just put a muzzle on it, complain about that as well. my dog goes in and out as she wishes (commands, I have to open the door). she has almost 10 acres to wander on. pretty chill deal for a dog! she also get to go to the puppy park several times a week to play. Kindle Kitten had a cat flap and we know how that turned out. when I'm working in the garden the Savannahs go into harnesses with leashes and come out. I've started to let Strider wander a bit dragging his leash. so far that is working.

My garden is the cat crapper of the neighborhood. As long as they leave the vegetable part alone I'm okay with it.
I just wish they'd go f**k somewhere else, it's noisy!

I know and I have but the friggin-fraggin-fruggin whackos won't do anything......they have a stupid rule about only one barking dog complaint a year and the last time I got the city council involved and still nothing!

The only recourse is to get at least two complainers that are willing to set a court date and appear etc. etc....

I think I'm ready to move to some farmhouse or something like you....got an extra bedroom?

Why is everything that used to be built to last for years and years disposable now!?!?

Out microwave broke yesterday, we're pretty sure it is the door latches being too loose or worn or something like that. We've only had it for about 3 years and paid about $100 for it. I'm sure we can get it fixed but it will probably cost us $40 - $50 to do it. Why do that when we can spend an extra $30 or $40 and get a brand new one?

The last microwave we had before this one lasted well over 10 years, I paid about $200 for it and had fuzes replaced in it once for about $30.

I'm sure part of this is that I get what I pay for but it still ticks me off! About the only positive spin on it is that we were looking to get an over the stove one anyway so now we have an excuse.

Cain Dog was a house dog, and I feel that makes a lot of difference. We let him out to do his business, but never left him outside in the fenced in area of our yard for extended periods, and always treated him like one of the family. He was much better behaved than Norton. Norton's a hard-headed little wild man.
