Thumbs up True life Scary

I just read a real life book about a trawler man who took his trawler out in cyclone Tracy Darwin 1974, It sent shivers down my spine, it made me appreciate fishermen more and I realize how hard it is for them to get the fish on to my plate. The books full title is (The Night I Went Out With Tracy and she blew my brains out) By Bobby Magic.

I know Acashic are selling it in physical form and soon it will be a audio book I hope it will be a download PDF soon. I am getting a kindall soon and would love to have this book on it.

All the Best to you all

Looking forward to it. I read his Physics of the Impossible a while back and found that very interesting.

Sounds interesting and so many jobs are so crucial and so under-rated.

Started Robert Charles Wilson's "Julian Comstock" - an intriguing "alternate history" of life after the collapse of oil-based technologies and the return to a quasi-19th century mode of life in the 23rd century. So far I'm hooked!

As I'm just finishing a re-read of Neal Stephenson's "The Diamond Age" - makes for a fascinating contrast of two wildly dissimilar world views of our future - with and without technology.

I have just started reading Defending Sacred Ground by Alex Collier, and I am finding it fascinating and thought provoking.

Cheers.

I'm on a bit of an NF kick. Finished "Superfreakonomics", am halfway through "What the Dog Saw" and am seriously contemplating "Guns, Germs and Steel" next.

Today I finished On Benefits by Lucius Annaeus Seneca. Now I'm concentrating my efforts on Groucho and Me by Julius Henry ("Groucho") Marx. After that's finished, it's on to Over the Cliff: How Obama's Election Drove the American Right Insane by John Amato and David Neiwert.

There are several other books I'm reading concurrently, but Marx is the one I'm concentrating on now. I've altered my style of reading somewhat. Instead of keeping a current list of upwards of 20 books going at once, now I read about 5, with the one I'm concentrating on being read every other time I jump around from one to the other.

Like Mel, I'm on a NF kick as well. I just finished up "Priceless" by Robert K. Wittman, who was an undercover FBI agent and recovered stolen art. Very easy to read and incredibly interesting, I couldn't put it down. It was also fun to read as he's been living in Philadelphia most of this time, so everytime he mentioned a place I kept thinking, hey I know that place! I got this one at my library as a new release.

Now I've started "Lies my Teacher Told Me" by James W. Loewen. Not far along enough to form a real opinion, but so far I am enjoying it.

Great little book filled with odds and ends well-known to historians, but not widely known by the general public. Loewen does a great job of historical myth-busting.
