I saw some strange little birds today and was stunned to find out that there are 3 communities of Quaker parrots living in my neighborhood!

You're in Brooklyn? I believe they're escapees from someplace, and they've adapted happily to the area. Decent climate, good food supplies, few predators...

There are green parakeets near here, and throughout a fair bit of the south east (UK) there are parakeets and other parrots living wild. Apparently they've been around (wild) since the late 1800s, but populations have boomed since the 1990s

Quaker parrots are more commonly known as Monk parakeets.

And I'm not in Brooklyn.

OH! Parakeets...yeah, I believe that. I've seen parakeets in the wild around here as well. Wild Parrots are a bit more of a stretch in NY I think
