updating calibre

Calibre seems to have upgrades often and they always advise uninstalling the old version. However, I am saving quite a few books on there (waiting for Kobo to fix the font problem) and when I install the latest version I have to load the damn books again.

Is it ok to just download the new version and hope it figures out what it needs?

It usually says you only need to uninstall if you're running an old version (from 0.6.something). If you're already on any version 0.7 then you can just install over the top and not lose anything.
