while I find that a very extreme case, but to each needs their own, but you can also finger swipe to turn pages.

when I'm holding mine one handed on the subway my four fingers are in the middle of the back of the nook and my thumb is between the page forward and backwards and makes it very easy to turn pages either way.

Do you really think the Nook is heavy? Again to each their own, but Really? I mean the Ipad is heavy for long durations but the nook, come on the girls at work think it's very lightweight and love how the back kind of concaves in with the rubberized back for easy holding.

I don't know but I guess everyone's needs and such are different.
I hope you find the right one for you

I heard that too on multiple reviews, The Sony's have some cool things going for it if you are a note taker etc. but overall I just don't see any value in them. The ones that have a 3G wireless are about $100 more than the Nook and Kindle and the ones that are cheaper have smaller screens and no wireless downloading capabilites and they are stll on average only about $50 cheaper. Throw in the glare of screen, I'm just not seeing it.

Good thing you kept the 505...

My first reader was a 505 that I gave to my wife, shortly after buying it, because I wanted to have the latest 600 from Sony... now I can't get her to give it back. I miss how crisp/clear the screen in the 505 is.

Sony should have continued to sell the 505... I will probably get a 300... just for the quality of the text.

Edit: Nevermind. I have lost this battle and bought a Nook anyway. Some willpower I have.

so ummm I gave in to $149 Nook Wifi and am waiting patiently for it to arrive. From lurking and reading other posts here, I gathered that the screen on both and some features are virtually the same. Someone said in other post that it was a sidegrade and not an upgrade and I totally agree. So my main reason for switching is the future firmware updates (4 already in the last 6 months) and the abilities to be soft-rooted. I loved my 505 even though I only used it for about 7 months. However, the idea of no more firmware updates from Sony made me panic. So there I did it. I hope the Nook turns out to what I hope it to be and more.

Good Luck, but why would no upgrades make you panic. The 505 does everything it needs to do quite well. No upgrades needed

I'm just afraid I am going to be left behind in the technologically advanced world of ereaders . Not that the Nook is anymore advance than the 505 anyway. I just like the possibilities that it CAN be. I am going to be honest. I also like many different ways I can accessorize the Nook. Call me shallow but girl gotta do what a girl gotta do!

interesting. I love my nook, but gotta tell you the truth - I settled down on the nook because I could not get a 505 (it's a shame Sony decided to discontinue such a nice device) and my 300 has no dictionary no expandable memory. I do agree the nook looks very fashionable.
