Well that was me. My US quote with B & N was US $ 164.98. That would have been AUD $ 190 ish approx. Anyway.. that was with international priority shipping. If you get someone to ship it for you, the post itself would cost at least 30 USD. So that would be Approx 180 - 190 USD. In todays conversion it would be roughly between 210 to 220 AUD. So well I coughed up the extra for that peace of mind.. which is return insurance in case of damage.
Bugger the craving and the artificial need that has been created.....

My order has been placed and got a email from them today. But cannot say when it will be shipped. given a rough estimate of 2 weeks. Let me see. Will update.

Kindle only became international, essentially, after Amazon got the go-ahead to sell ebooks in various other countries. As well as sorted out the whispernet stuff. Other than pleasing us, B&N would, I think, have very little motivation to sell overseas directly because they can't benefit from the on-nook ebookstore, generally speaking.

Because now my PayPal payment status change from "pending" to "in progress".

Okay, so I ordered the nook again, this time going the 'get it shipped through a freight forwarder' route.

I received an email from B&N saying that they had a problem processing my order, and I need to call them between Mon-Fri to help clarify some things...

Anyone know what this is about? They're not going to cancel my order because I'm having it shipped abroad, are they? Why would they care?

That's odd! What did you enter for your billing address? UAE or the US? Aramex advises using your dropbox address and they also have telephone number over there if mandatory.

Yeah, I put the dropbox address as my billing address.

But I paid through PayPal which I've linked to my credit card, and my credit card's billing address is in Dubai...

So far as I know, PayPal doesn't share the card details, which is one reason why it's so popular.

I assume you have used usunlocked?
The following is a quote from the usunlocked blog:

"NOTE: Recently, the B&N credit card audit department sends out an email after the order has been placed, saying: 'your attention is required...'. * I'm using a courier company called Aramex. Not sure how well known they are in US, or if they even exist there, but they're quite well-reputed in this region.

Does anyone know if I order through Usunlocked, do I have to pay tax for the shipment within USA... (from B&N to usunlocked)? I asked a friend in New York to order me a Nook and forward it to me but they charge like 8.75% tax which is kinda steep considering I will have to pay extra 5% tax + $5 handling fee when the Nook arrives to Canada...

You do have to pay tax.

I ordered a Nook and am having it shipped to a freight forwarder, as well, and I was charged sales tax at checkout of a little under $16 (including the Industriell cover).

How strange, I also got partially refunded. I am now hesitant as to use a forwarding company until I get further into this

EDIT: okay, so i just went through my emails (have been away from computer yesterday). They've just sent me *another* shipping confirmed email...The Plot Thickens
