So I installed the Cooler Reader FW. Even though it is repacked FW from the manufacturer for EB600. It is definately much better than the one we get from Astak. The feature which i really like abt the cooler FW is that when i start my reader it directly goes to the page I was reading and do not have to select the book again. It also seems a little fast.

Also, I had emailed Astak and they said the Icon FW is Beta only and show not be used. I tied it too and felt it was buggy. The reader restarted couple times.

I really hope they are still working on inproving the EB600 FW. Dosent seem likely with all the new products lined up. I got mine for $130 from Newegg so cant really complain.

You can download the firmware for the Mentor Lite on the Astak site, but then follow the instructions here: http://www.coolreaders.com/downloads...structions.pdf to install it. Worked just as advertised for me!

They are definitely the same hardware. I have no idea how to get the PB firmware on there through. Sure would be nice because the PB firmware rocks

I am no expert in this matter. But It is possible to make it work.

Its not as simple as to download the FW and install it. The bootloader on the pocket book, Cybook, Eslick, Mentor are different. The hardware is same EB600. If we can have help from some who knows more about this subjects and instructions how to change the bootloader. It can be done and will work exactly like PB.

But again one can just buy the pocket book

And most people on this forum will support that.

I tried to just flash it using the PB and Cybook FW and it bricks the Astak. I had to reflash it using the mentor FW to make it work. I am doing something wrong, will look into it more tonight after work.
