It could be.
My maltese, Petrush, loves car rides, as long as they go nowhere.
If I take him to Sister #1's house, with her psycho dog, he's lousy for a day or so. Sulky, sleepy, intestinal problems.
Stress, excitement can do it. It is a big world for a kitten. Overload happens.
Hope she is better soon.

I'm sure she will be. I also upped the amount of food from her breeder vs. the mount of food I feed. that should help

They do say a change in diet can cause problems.
I've got a list of dog foods Petrush doesn't process well.

Have you tried mixing cooked white rice with her chicken - that is the mix my vet prescribes when one of my cats has the squirts.

no I haven't. are you cooking the chicken? she gets it raw. if she is still squirty tomorrow I'll try it

Cooked - you boil the chicken breast in plain water - looks yucky but smells & tastes OK. And cook the white rice in plain water. Mix and serve. Unless there is something serious going on, this combination usually stops the squirts in a day or so. Be sure she is drinking plenty of water - diarrhea can dehydrate the little ones very quickly. Pinch the skin over her shoulders & lift - it it stays tented or falls slowly she's dehydrated and will need SQ fluids.

what I'm feeding right now came home from the breeder and she had ground it up there and been feeding out of the same batch. apparently the trick is to take the skin off. that's what she always does. both when grinding it to feed it raw, and when giving the older ones their raw chicken legs

Well - that sounds safe.

If the squirts persist, I'd get a fresh boned chicken breast, boil it up, chop it up (or use a blender) and mix with the rice.

well I've got her 100% on her original food. I'm actually going to hold off on giving her any chicken for awhile, and I may have gone a little overboard with the treats

. as well as having her as quiet as one can have a happy kitten for the day, no car rides, etc., hopefully she'll bounce back
