Is there anyone here from San Francisco that can confirm when did Sony launch the ad campaign "Sexier than a librarian" in the BART/MUNI station?

Huh. I take Muni every day for work, and haven't seen the campaign. Probably because I am usually reading my Reader, though ;-)

I think the original design is much better. the ONLY thing the original design needed was a replication of the page turn buttons on the right side. in this new one they added right side buttons but they REMOVED the left side buttons (I do not count the bottom thats inconvenient to reach and hold there)

All I want is Folder Access from the memory card right now from sony (I know AAA usage is not happening right now) but just give us folder access please. I would buy the new unit JUST for that if they included it.

I believe the display connector is located along one edge, so they kind of have to not put buttons on one side or the other.

Of course, if they just allowed the display to be inverted ....

Agreed. There should be buttons on both sides. The more the better. Reading is done in various positions and holding the reader changes in accordance. Worse, maintaining the device for some time restricts blow flow to the holding hand. Having button for both is a good thing. (I can almost picture Martha saying it)

I've seen it, I think, in Powell Station. I was very surprised because that station is usually covered by iPod ads (the San Francisco Mac Store is nearby) and it was just after Apple released their new lines of iPods. But yeah, the station was totally filled with Sony Reader ads everywhere, and the "Sexier than a librarian" was only one of them.

Does the "Sexier Than A Librarian" campaign show the old or new device? Or is it just in the "teaser phase" of the campaign, showing text-only for now?

So definitively Sony is preparing a big advertising campaign for the new PRS 505.

Maybe not a big campaign, just a well targeted one. These devices are perfect for those who commute via mass transit.

Of course, without any official word from Sony this is all just speculation about the PRS-505 being the new model. For all we know, the 505 is the international model and the ads are purely coincidental, not to mention Sony has already had the PRS-500 out for coming up on a year so it could just simply be marketing.

Most of this speculation derives from a single source that had listed the device for a short time. You would think that if this was an actual device about to be released in the U.S. the advertising execs would have already jumped on the initial spark and ran with; but, alas nothing has happened yet, not even a fizzle from Sony.

I'm content with the PRS-500 I already own, and VizPlex or not, I won't be picking up a new device unless it supports PDF's much more natively and clearly; other than that there is no call for an upgrade. While the next-gen eInk appears to have a higher contrast, the one I have now is more than adequate. Just my thoughts.
