I got the Sony standard cover for my Sony 300. I do wish it had some way of closing it securely for when I have it in my purse. I made a fabric cover for it with some fabric scraps & used a button & ribbon closure. Works, but I find I really prefer the cover "naked" - what I like about the Sony cover is it's so lightweight, like the 300 itself, and I do like that it has the magnets that keep it closed when it's lying on a table. My current solution is to use a narrow stretchy headband to keep it closed when I'm carrying it in my purse.

And yes, the Oberon covers are lovely - I have one for my Kindle. Thought I'd like one for the Sony as well, but they're a bit heavy and I'm realizing I don't want the added weight.

I love the Oberon covers. If only they made covers for the 300 I would get one in a heartbeat.

I also forgot to order a cover when I bought my reader, and the shipping pretty much doubles the cost, so it would have to be a really special cover to tempt me to spend that much.

But I've got plenty of crafty stuff like card and felt around the house, so I guess I'll have to try the DIY option too

If only Oberon made a cover that attached to the hinge holes on the 600 (or 300), like the Sony cover. I *hate* those cheeezy corner straps!!!!!

Why not use a rubber band? They come in all different sizes & strengths.

(can't find the thread now) was it merely cutting a thin rectangle through the first layer of the cover? Anything else done? Anyone else a little annoyed by this?

I know it's not a big deal to shut it off (or sleep, rather) when you close it, but sometimes I just have to toss the book down (gently) closing the cover.
I know when people were having issues with Kindle covers pushing buttons, they used one of those plastic/vinyl "bumpers" (or one of the felt pads - those are a bit thinner) that you can use on cabinet doors, etc - they're sticky on the back. They'd just put one on either the inside of the cover or on the Kindle itself.

Thought about that, but my hairband is less likely to break - plus it's much more decorative.

Has anyone tried these neoprene covers?

http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Neopre.../dp/B0019LVYMW

I'm trying to decide between one of these, and the Book Armors.

I have two neoprene covers, not one of these, mine came from I-NIQUE

http://www.i-nique.com/model.asp/cn=6/c=478

I love them, the reader slips in and out very easily, you do have to take the reader out to read though

I just bought a PRS-505, and the cover digs into my skin between thumb and forefinger when I hold it one-handed (my usual situation). The Sony "deluxe" replacement cover, PRS-600 sized, ($13.00) arrived, much softer but it freekin' reeked! Being asthmatic, I'm pretty sensitive to strong smells, which my wife hassles me about a lot -- except this time! She won't even let me use the thing, it smells so bad!

So I looked at the M-EDGE stuff.

The Platform Cover was stiff, and very difficult to fold back. Same with their smaller leather job. Very disappointing design. Given the smell issue -- and being a surfer -- neoprene is always out of the question. It's rubber, which is good for protection, but tends to smell, and that smell will stick to your skin. No kidding.

I finally decided on the M-EDGE Latitude. It's canvas, with a polar fleece interior. I machine washed it immediately upon arrival, and it was fine. It's soft (being fabric!), and does not dig into my hand. It's a bit bulky when you fold it all the way back, but it works, and still can be held one-handed. I also like the zippers, something that I was pretty skeptical about initially. Again, I purchased the PRS-600 size, but it fits the PRS-505 very snugly -- survived the "shake test" over the bed.

The only problem is that it's overpriced at $35.00 (the Neoprene one and the Platform are laughable at their prices). I got mine for just under $20.00, either from B&H or 6ave.com. Did a price match with a sale from some other site, and even had free shipping. If you can get in the $20.00 range, even up to $25.00, I'd say go for it. It's a very nice cover.

Sony set the bar pretty low (or high?) for pricing, though. Their own covers for the device are 45-50 dollars, aren't they?

Typically in the $30.00 range. But they can be had for $15.00 from Amazon or others. I got my stinky replacement for $13.00, and it was genuine. Even SonyStyle had them below $20.00 for a while, though I'm not sure if that was specific to a model, or if it's still going on.

after reading about peoples screens getting damaged due to a bit of pressure I am going to try and find a plastic hard shell case while I am on the go. Something that won't crush the reader.

I recently purchased an M-edge platform leather cover for my PRS-300 and, though initially a little cold am starting to really like it.

The cover is sturdy with the space for the M-edge light, which is next on my shopping list.

Recommended!
