You must be new here ;-)

Considering iRex track record, *I personally* would not hurry to buy ANYTHING on their promises, let alone unclear hints. I would wait a little bit and see what they deliver. There will be plenty of early adopters with money to burn.

I very much hope that this time iRex is much more successful. It looks that they are much more careful with their statements about the battery life. I was looking for any information about battery life on their site and I did not find any mention whatsoever.

I've had enough of sitting on the ground waiting for the engineers to fix my plane, reading on my laptop (which normally runs out of battery) so hopefully this will give me something to read without causing my eyes to try and fall out of my skull. Then again most of it is A4 PDFs so we'll see...

Well as NatCh says:

"Ya gotta do what ya gotta do..."

Really, it looks like the V9 isn't gonna be available any time soon.
I'm not happy with what iRex has done so far, but at least now I know that's the best they can do.

Sometimes hope and choice only lead to unhappiness, now things are frustratingly simple, no second thoughts, no chance of disappointment.

So, it looks like I'm gonna be the one burning money..
Has anybody ordered from the iRex shop? any idea why iRex wouldn't take my VAT number?

What I am thinking is once the V9 is out, that iRex might be able to make a new iLiad with a similar V9 screen in Vizplex. I'm just going to hang onto my Sony Reader for now and see what happens. Things are still too volatile to change. What with the Eink announcemt, New Sony, Gen3, V3, V9, Kindle, and who know what else in 2008.

I agree with JSWolf, I think I'd rather wait for the V9 (I'll still get the V3 wacom one when it comes out tho')
I just cannot get over the disparity of battery life between the Illiad and the other Eink devices.
Yes I know that it's larger and has better grayscale and a wacom, but going from a device that can stay on for weeks at a time to one that only runs for a few hours seems to point to a fundamental flaw which is at odds to what eink was developed for.

Yes, but there is shoulder bag in package now. I broke my iLiad once while I was waiting for already ordered shoulder bag.. So, we can assume that it becames cheaper.

I think, given a choice between a V9 and a 10" version of the Iliad, I'd have to go for the Iliad. I have a strong suspicion that even the v9t will only be able to open files and turn pages, because it's basically the same core hardware as everything else out there, except the 400mhz Iliad of course.

Problem is, unless Irex have been secretly designing a 10" in parallel with this '2nd edition', it'll probably a year or so away from production. Maybe their new staff will help speed that up, but then again, it might not even be on their agenda.
