*sigh* batucada night is over again, and damned early too, sheesh it's not even 2 and i'm already home. i blame monday for that. i do have to work tomorrow and so do most people. it was brilliant though. excellente fanfare on the canal, then batucadas (THREE of them ! including batala). that's what i call a good night !

the weather stinks however, although at least it's not raining.

Another hot day at the beach. Plenty of monster SE Florida mosquitoes and they bit my face 4 times. It was my only body part that wasn't covered by water. As soon as those brutes learn to snorkel, we are all doomed!

Yes, we were told tonight at a community meeting a couple of the air tankers working our fire went to you. We have not lost any houses and I understand you were not so lucky.

The devastation is just so sickening. Here is an article showing photos of part of the area before the fire. The sad part is we won't see it like that again in our lifetime.

We saw lizards doing it in the plants around the pool. They seemed happy, but it is hard to tell with lizards. They are nor emotive like squids.
