To me, it isn't so much "attacking those who like it" but taking the people who actually believe that there is the tiniest trace of a chance of the word taking hold in English by the shoulders, giving them a mild shake and telling them that those windmills ain't giants.

It's a few people in an off topic sub forum on a fairly obscure site dedicated to a small niche (e-reader fans) in a long declining hobby (reading in general).

It's not like there is any cultural/linguistic revolution happening here. Let people have their fun with the word and don't use it yourself.

So you're having a visceral reaction to something that you know won't come to pass? You're annoyed and want to physically interact with people up to the level of shaking them over something you are certain will never happen? That makes even less sense than believing any of us think Liseuse is going to be adopted by the English speaking world.

I'd think the "lounge whackos" part of your post is what he/she took as an insult.

That did come across that way--at least to me who doesn't post here much. Comes across as saying the people here are whackos and not worth listening to, rather than a comment on the whackiness of the forum area.
