I just remembered that I didn't get Death at a Four Flags. Like Death, the stuff I got at Four Flags would curl your toenails, but it wasn't as potent as Death.

The fellow who bought Death ended up giving it to me because it was too hot for his tastes. After the apprentice left, I took the bottle home and used it. Then after my wife's mother who has since passed away came to stay with us, I reluctantly threw it out. She had Alzheimer's and I was afraid she would put it on her food thinking it was ketchup.

Nobody is as potent as Death-- he's all bone! (rim shot)

It's easy to grow, Helen.
When I see fresh lemongrass being sold, that still has the base 'bulb' attached (rather than just the green upper stalk,) I buy a package and just stick the base in the dirt! Don't trim the base and if there are any roots attached, leave them on! Give the plant LOTS OF SUN, and a well drained pot. Water it well, but let the soil dry a bit between watering, and cut it back often in the beginning. Like any grass, it reproduces more when cut. It's a clumping grass that grows to between 3-5 feet (unless you have a cat) so use a large pot! UK winters might be a bit tough on it, but I've brought mine through mid-Japan winter (temps to just around freezing) by cutting it back in the Fall, and bringing indoors if there is a freeze.

Chilli-infused chocolate, chocolate coated chillis, chocolate-chilli icecream...these might make you "take" more often than "leave" (I suspect you may have tried it already, so I'd be interested in hearing your take). They're two flavours that go exceptionally well together. For me, the icecream is the best, as you get the best of hot-and-cold too (like "sweet-and-sour", you get both and not a neutralisation).

Thanks for the detailed info about how to grow lemongrass, Stitchawl, I'm going to try it.

And I didn't know about honey working on chillis, either. I have tried milk/yoghurt. I hope I never have to test how well honey works on burning chilli - I managed to get some on my nose once (specifically, on the delicate part just inside my nostril) when my daughter had some friends here, and I ran around the house shrieking until one of the children persuaded me to put milk on it. Hopefully my behaviour passed for loveable eccentricity rather than evidence of poor hygiene while preparing chillis (I washed my hands, I'm sure I did), a lack of dignity and a low tolerance for pain.

Ooh, I love the sound of chocolate coated chillis.

It was simply the very best 'traveler's information' I ever received, even better than learning to say 'Imodium' in eight languages.

I don't like it all. and that goes for jalapeno or habanero jelly as well. people are forever giving me things like that. apparently I have odd tastes all around, I don't like fruit with any meats or with vegetables, like in salads (and yes, I know tomatoes and chilies are technically fruits, I mean sweet stuff). really turns me off for some reason

One of my tomato plants, the biggest, has suffered a bit from the heat, some of the leaves were yellow tonight. BUT! The flowers are starting to bloom! I even saw an insect checking the plant out the other day, but it was too soon. I wonder if the reason the plant smells so heavenly is to attract insects? If I was a bee, I'd be all over it

The rocket is growing fast and looks more delicious every day. The basil is tiny but growing too.
