Let me think....what did people do to keep themselves occupied intellectually before the Internet......I'm gonna go out on a limb and say reading. I know it's frowned upon now, but it was good enough back then. Even before electricity.

Nomesque has a newish short story out?
Joy!
I am overcome with delight!
I must run out immediately and obtain this literary gem for myself!
I am sure it will fill my life with the wonder of her artistic genius!
Hurrah!

That would be a good idea.

Do you actually get anything for yourself if smashwords only charges $1.99?

About $1.40. Less if it's an affiliate sale, or sold through a retailer like B&N. Still not bad, though. Better than Amazon - 70c from charging $1.99.

Love you too, Nomesque!

You Authoress of the Gods, you!

How are you?
Are you still the you you were the last time I spoke to you?
Or have you ascended to a glorious new level of you beyond human comprehension, achieving Universal Youness?

Possibly. A lot of people HAVE been looking confused when I've spoken to them, today.

I'm tired, to be honest. Can't kill this general feeling of feeling crap that I've had for a couple of months.

How're you, recluse m'dear?

Sorry to hear that.
Just generally run down or sick?
I get these lingering colds sometimes, I feel lousy for weeks.
And sometimes my energy level just bottoms out, but I've been taking B Complex vitamins so it hasn't been too bad.

At the moment, I am doing okay. Can't complain. Got stuff to read.

I agree, need another day even though it was a 3-day weekend for me.

I almost missed it myself. The last one aired the weekend before the Memorial Day weekend. Ever since then, my local PBS station reverted back to fund-raiser mode b/c the last one didn't pull in enough money. Will they ever realize that broadcasting old specials with now-dead people singing in them - and interrupting the show every 10-15 minutes to beg for money - really drives people away from their station?

Considering I'm on a forum called Mobile READ, I think I know about it, thanks. I figured it went without saying.

Those were something, weren't they?!! Mallory & I were on our way home from the library's Summer Reading Program and I was watching this huge (long) dark line or wall of nasty-looking storm clouds approaching from the west and racing it all the way home. It beat me. Five minutes sooner OR no train sitting on the tracks that we needed to cross, which caused me to detour in the direction toward the storm and we would've made it home dry. I was having this eerie Wizard of Oz feeling as we were trying to get out of the car and into the barn. Mallory couldn't push her car door open because of the rain & wind beating on it and because she was trying to carry her art projects in with her , while trying to open the door. I'm screaming at her to leave them in the car and get out and into the barn! And she had the nerve to argue with me! Oh! That child!

I can't believe that we didn't lose power! We always lose power out here! We have no basement, so where were we (well... me ) with my face pressed up to the windows watching. No trees down either for us this time. Amazing & strange. There are several big dead/dying trees that I wish a storm would take down, because we can't afford to pay for someone to come out and cut them down.

I'm glad to hear that your internet is back up and that you are all safe & sound! And that you are on a well-deserved break from school Shel!
