My favorite story concerns subway grates. They are common in New York City. Set into the sidewalk, they are usually about 10' long and 3' wide or so. They provide ventilation for subway stations and are kept locked. But not maintained. A couple of years ago, this poor jerk is walking along and when he crosses the grate, it gives way. He falls about 6' to a ledge that is supposed to keep debris from the street out of the station. Unfortunately, because of the angle of the grate, he rolled. Hit the interior station grill and broke through. Hit the station floor and his momentum put him on the tracks. Several people in the station went to his assistance. Sadly, the poor, stunned guy, trying to get up, touched the third rail. This is Murphy's Law in action.

It was a bad stick of ram, it took a while to track it down because it hosed my windows install so the system crashed with both of them and i ran memtest for a few hours and reported both sticks as good, once I reinstalled windows and tried both sticks separately one made the system crash and the other didn't.

BTW if anyone is curious, i had no diagnosis about my knee problem, two different specialists couldn't find anything physically wrong with the knee other than it being swollen because of the fluid. After it was drained a second time it stopped producing extra fluid and while its a little stiff it's getting better every day.
The only thing they said that could have caused the swelling was that I either hit or bent the knee the wrong way and didnt think much of it at the time or I was sleeping when it happened.

Well - the hottest day so far this summer - and the A/C dies - so bite the bullet & pay the weekend service fee surcharge - and now have indoor temps back in double digits! Sigh! It must be a cosmic plot to lighten my wallet!

That's because they did the same to everyone else who can't get in because they all waited until today to try to get a new access key! and now nobody can get in!

I bet we will all be charged late fees too, even though we are all trying to get in and lodge on time! shit!
