Weather here is normal, if you consider that abnormal is the new normal.

Be careful, pooh!
Make sure to butter up before going outside. A liberal sprinkle of paprika wouldn't hurt either. That way you'll get all brown and crispy. *Drool* Tuck some garlic in your armpits too! |

Funny story I heard once about Iridium flares - it sounds like an urban myth, but I'd very much like it to be true:
This guy gets invited to this party/BBQ that's being held in the evening; he already knows the people who are attending, and knows also that a good proportion of these people are ... gullible. So he decides to play a bit of a joke. You see, he's been tracking Iridium satellites for a while, and is aware of precisely the location and time of when the famous flare will show. So he attends the party, and starts talking about this book he read. 'Apparently, it'll be the end of the world tonight,' he says, not taking it too seriously. He tells them it will be heralded by an exploding star at a precise time and location. Smirking, he says it might be worth a look. 'You never know,' he says. Course, most people there don't take it too seriously, but there is curiosity enough to make some of the more gullible ones take a peek at the due time and location... From what I heard, there was a major freakout. The guy didn't get invited to many parties after that one. |

Pshaw - any good cook knows you have to pre-heat to 450! Which should occur about 5:00 here.

Oh, yes! That was latte coming out the nose stuff (well, it would be if TL1 would wake up and get me one).
At 7am it was a very chilly 7.9C/46F. At 8am it had already gone up to 12C/54F. At this rate it will be summer by lunchtime. Damn, 15.4C/60F at 9am. The rate of increase is slowing down. Still, hopefully it will get better than yesterday's 17C/63F...perhaps to the forecast 21C/70F. It looks like the sun's willing. Cheers, Marc (at least TL1 is awake. "Where's my coffee?!") |

Getting tired of this yard work in the sun. Think I will hire a team. Anyone here want to fly off to CA for some low wages in the heat? You have to pee outside and drink from the hose though.

Wasn't too bad a day for yard work. Managed to put everything back on the deck (the wife had put everything in the yard because she had plans to hire her nephew to pressure-wash and apply a protective coating to the deck), cut the grass, and get some swim-time in with Norton. (That dog is a water freak. He's halfway up his ladder before I can even get it into place!)
