Hey Kenny, I think you possibly did take Brem's comment out of context. My own careful re-reading shows that he said a "surge in multimedia" is being "fueled by the iPad" and he mentions "other devices", also.

I don't think he ever said anything about "revolutonizing" anything, so to claim words that he never wrote are silly is kind of a non-sequitor.

No intent here to further flaming of any sort, just a suggestion that perhaps a re-reading of what Brem wrote might cause you to re-frame your reply. That's all. (keeping it cool).

Thanks!

Even allowing for the "and other devices like it (iPad)" it's still a silly thing to say. The internet has been doing multimedia for almost two decades and it has gotten better and better. In the mean time devices like smart phones and netbooks have emerged and people have been talking about wireless tablet computers for a few years now. Apple has made a big splash with its iPad (but do keep in mind it does not do Flash one of the most prolific multimedia apps on the internet) so no I don't see "The new surge in "multimedia" is being fueled by the iPad, ..."

I see the iPad taking advantage of where the internet and technology have reached at this time. The statement was completely backwards as far as I see it, thus as I said, silly. The iPad exists because of multimedia and technology not vice versa.

I really don't know what your problem is Kenny. But since you refuse to look at the context of my post, I will give it to you. We were discussing the book "Alice in Wonderland" for the iPad, which has multimedia content. Also some talk about magazines for the iPad, which also have multimedia content. I believe John said why all the sudden the resurgence of interest in multimedia (not an exact quote). I responded that iPad is driving the new interest in multimedia.... Which is why this type of media is being developed for the iPad.

At no point did I say anything about iPad re-inventing or revolutionalizimg the Internet. Get a grip!

Something like that. Does sound better - I used Nine Inch Nails' newest album called "The Slip" to compare:

Free download. Compare mp3 and cd-quality iTunes.
Sorry, but that's a load of BS. AAC is not CD quality. All the bits are not there.

Most ePub these days don't look like printed books. They look awful. They have large indents or none, line spaces between paragraphs, huge spaces between sections, font sizes all over the place, and margins that just look silly. They just don't look like a printed book. If they did, they'd actually be mostly there in terms of formatting for a screen.

We can watch "free" broadcast TV with ads, or watch paid channels. We can listen to "free" AM/FM radio with ads, or listen to internet or subscription services. The same kind of thing is bound to happen sooner or later......
Speaking of buying eBooks, The latest Dean Koontz Frankenstein book just came out and at Fictionwise, it's $20.40. That's the club price after a 36.25% discount. Now I can go to Borders and get the hardcover for $14.95. That's one example of stupid pricing. Sony does have the book for $9.99 which is a lot more reasonable. I don't know what others are charging for it.

No that is NOT what you said, you said "The new surge in "multimedia" is being fueled by the iPad, and the potential other devices that will be coming out over the next few years."

The rest of the context is irrelevant.

You are claiming that the iPad is responsible for a "surge in multimedia" --- I disagree for the reasons I stated and think it is a silly thing to say as the words "new surge" certainly imply some new and different - revolutionary in some way which could not be further from the truth. The iPad is a result, not the the surge fueling a multimedia explosion.

Like you can carry an iPad in your pocket.

To be honest, an iPad is a bit larger to carry around like you would a 6" eink reader. That's why if I ever bought an iPad or anything similar, I would still keep my 505. My 505 is a lot more portable and less chance of it getting stolen at some T station/bus stop (local public transportation). Even iPhones/Touches are more likely to get stolen them my 505.

No, the 600 is not eReader. eReader is not what the 600 is. Please use the term eReader correctly.
