That makes sense. I'll try putting it on my kindle when I get back to my home computer tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the help!

That was it! The guide shows up beautifully on my Kindle1! Thanks!

Edit: TOC doesn't seem to be working. Is this because I'm using a Kindle 1? It doesn't work with a smaller set of books as well, both with and without genre tags and comment tags.

@moonka:
As noted in the first post in this thread, the catalog does not display properly on the K1. Sorry ...

GRiker, I have been avidly using the catalog feature since you've created it. It is just fantastic to have all of my book descriptions available to me. Will you be adding the custom metadata info to catalog creation in the near future? I'm using the yes/no column to mark books read. I'd like to be able to do away with the "+" mark that I am currently using. However, if there is no way to restrict books from being included in the catalog via custom metadata then I will continue to use the "+" mark.

Did that make any sense?

lisa.m: That's certainly possible after the iPad driver is feature-complete. Please create an enhancement request with the specifics of how you'd like to see it implemented.

Thanks for the kind words.

If yo have a custom column.
Create a search filter on your column to show only what you want in the Catalog
Select all (clicking the tint box above the Row numbers does this)
Make a Catalog.
Only the selected appears within.

You're welcome.

I'm not sure exactly what I want...lol but I will open a ticket, mainly for the yes/no read/not read feature.

That darn iPad....taking up everyone's attention....grumble grumble....

I'll admit that I have not read the entirety of this long thread, so I apologize if this has been addressed already...

With the 0.6.xx versions of calibredb, I was using the following command line in a .bat file:
Code:
calibredb.exe list --output-format=stanza --prefix=http://dl.dropbox.com/u/XXXXXX/XXXXX --library-path="%BASEDIR%"
where %BASEDIR% was a path to a Dropbox folder containing my Calibre library. This would generate a "stanza.xml" file that my nook used (via Trook) to access my Calibre library from anywhere I could get Internet access. The new "catalog" command does not appear to support the stanza format or using a prefix, and the "list" command no longer works because it stopped supporting the "output-format=" option. Am I missing something? If so, please share. If not, I hope Kovid will consider re-adding that functionality. Otherwise, I am going to have to go back to 0.6.xx. Thanks for the great program either way!

You could always try using the calibre2opds software as a way of generating the catalog for use with your Nook? It has features targetted at support for Nook and using files hosted on DropBox.

Use calibre2opds for this functionality. I am only going to maintain opds code in one place (i.e. in the calibre content server).

I am using it, but I do not like it very much. It generates hundreds of files, all of which have to be synced when they are in my Dropbox. The old calibredb method created one small XML file. Much cleaner for my purposes.

I asked before about it & someone told me it was in the todo list, sorry if I ask again... just checking for news!

what about the facility to create a catalog of only the books present on the device?

thank you for the great work!
