I just tried 0603 and I could not get it to connect via USB to WinXP.

I am back to 0513 using the CoolReader 3.0.30 plugin.

FWIW, it does NOT appear that 0603 was an attempt to fix the battery drain issue. These are Buggins' release notes:

The package is cr3-v5-20100528.tar.gz , so on Windows you need a program like 7_ZIP to unzip and open up the tar ball. When you find the folder .cr3 just copy the folder and it's contents to the root of your internal storage or *possibly* the root of your SD storage. I have not tried the SD storage /.cr3 location myself. The next time that you start CoolReader it will be the version in /.cr3 that will start.

The only benefit that I know is from what Buggins wrote. That is, that the font memory leak was fixed in CoolReader. I never had any problem in that regard so the plug-in was not a necessary change for me. Everything is working well for me while using the plug-in so I am just leaving it that way while I wait for the USB and battery issue to be fixed in the main firmware.

It is.

I followed the link and downloaded it to check. The Tirwal firmware at that download link is for the V3ext. It will work on the 6" Hanlin V3 (EZReader). It will not work on the Hanlin V5 (PocketPRO) or the Hanlin V3+ (Whatever Astak is going to call it when they get around to selling it.)

I know nothing about this version, just noticed it today but is probably still based on the Chinese.

Okay, loaded this version, here's some results:
PC connection Win 7: works
Font change for main book menu: fails
Font change for fb2 book text: works
About selection from opened fb2 book: shows cool reader 3.0.30
Battery: don't know yet

And here's my first bug: left an open book at 9 am and tried to return to it at 12 noon and the screen was frozen, had to do a reset

- No overnight excessive battery drain


- 2 days later, battery still ok

I know nothing about this version, just noticed it today but is probably still based on the Chinese.

I have been running it for about six hours now. The USB works OK with XP, but it will take more time to see if the excessive battery consumption has been fixed.
