I have several Earth Boxes and I'm growing tomatoes, broccoli, sweet and hot peppers and various herbs. The hot pepper plant has one pepper almost ready to pick and the cherry tomato plant has a dozen very small and very green tomatoes. I've been picking and using the herbs.
Day Lilies are about to bloom, the hostas are looking good and all my annuals are enjoying the hot, wet weather we've been having. |

Thanks, Kindlekitten. Maybe I'll stick to my jars! I'm not green-fingered, anyway. I have what estate agents call 'a mature garden', meaning that the people who lived here before did all the hard work. (I planted that peony, though.)

Gasoline works very well as a weed killer.
Of course with the damn gas prices up as high as they are it is cheaper just to buy the weed killer juice. |

It's good for the bees, KennyC, and the wildlife - the way you've got to look at it, you're practically an eco-warrior. Hooray for you.

I hear many do some reading on their cell, but I think the majority are probably texting, not reading. Not that I know. I"m just guessing because I haven't been back there in years. I get many emails from my friends there--all via their cell... |

Ha! I must say that yes, I'm the stupid squirrels best friend. (as well as the birds) The squirrels are constantly after the bird seed.... I must say though I just had an encounter with a squirrel on my walk to the park that had thrown me into a different frame of mind about them....won't say more now as it may turn up in a poem..... ![]() |

Now I'm intrigued. I have a friend who is a six ft four Dutch man and he has an irrational fear/hatred of squirrels - and then every now and again I read in the newspaper about a rogue squirrel menacing someone in a park and it makes me think again (and of course, I always take care to send the link to my friend).
Edit: re: eco warrior to the rescue. Yes, that's what I meant. |

I've read many hundreds of manga and comics on my Sony Reader-- it is easy to convert CBR/CBZ (which are Rar and Zip files of all the pages with the extension changed) to LRF or EPUB.

[vent] Gonna be at least a few days before I'll be able to make more garden photos. I dropped my camera from my office chair (around a foot and a half fall to a wooden floor.) Thought it would be no problem-- it has been dropped before-- but it could no longer read the MemorySticks. Tried everything short of dissecting the camera before having to dissect the camera and try reseating all ribbon cables. But then it wouldn't work at all after putting it back together again. I don't know what Sony would charge to fix an 8-year-old camera, or if they would fix it at all, but it wouldn't be cheap. [/vent]
I paid $1000 for that Sony F707 in 2002. Looked on Ebay and ordered a used one (with 7-day return policy) for $85 including shipping. I suspect the new used one will be in better shape than my old one was pre-break. Probably very few of that model were in active use for 8 years-- I see I took around 19,100 photos with it in that time. During my time without a camera, I expect visits from Bigfoot, Little Green Men, a pink unicorn, and possibly Godzilla. |
