Sad, I know, but I have such fond memories of these days gone by.
* high five* I had the C64 too! Damn, is everyone here as old as me?

Thanks for the reminder. I had Frotz on the Touch but it was too small to play. With the iPad I'm getting some good typing practice while hitchhiking across the galaxy.

You can still add most of the Infocom library to Frotz - they are free (and legal) for the download @ http://www.refalo.com/palm/zips/zorks.zip

When you open the zip, you will find the first three Zorks and Zork the Undiscovered Underground - plus Enchanter, Wishbringer, Seastalker, Spellbringer, Suspended, Witness, Deadline, Sorcerer, Planetfall, Phobos - and I probably forgot some.

I also found the original Adventure on the same site @ http://www.ifarchive.org/if-archive/...code/Advent.z5

Enjoy - and thanks again to Harry for helping me to "waste" my Saturday!

That is a very special source of nostalgia for me - I used to work for Commodore, as an Amiga rep. (I worked for a manufacturer's rep who had the contract with Commodore).

Sadly, they took my Amiga back when I left the company.

Nooooooo!!

I had an Amiga after my C64. Commodre had good machines, but poor management.

I played Infocom again on my Amiga after originally going through them on my C64, and now I have Frotz on the iPad, I am starting Zork once more.

As someone who closely followed Commodore from the PET days...I bet you have stories to tell, especially concerning the Amiga

I have the two packages of releases, "Lost Treasures of Infocom", volumes I and II, released by Activision in the early 1990s. They come with all the manuals, maps, and so on. They are among my most treasured computer-related possessions!

I uploaded just about every title I could think of - and am going to put them to the test this afternoon - very happy!
The Interactive Fiction archive is THE place for adventure games, but you won't (to the best of my knowledge) find Infocom stuff there - it contains games written by individuals, but most of them are "z-code" games which are run using the Infocom "game engine", of which Frotz is one.

Note, by the way, that you can browse the IF archive and download from it from within Frotz itself. Tap the "Story List" button, and then the "Browse IFDB" button from that.

I have fond memories of "Hitchhiker's Guide" because many, many years ago a group of half a dozen of us used to play it every lunchtime at work, and it's probably the only Infocom game that I ever managed to finish!

Harry, I found a reference to this link at the IF archive (judging from the link, it looks to be off that site - but that's how I found it) - and I think these are all Infocom files:

Off on a slight tangent but there is a documentary about IF due out at some point called Get Lamp, thought it might be of interest to the old text adventurers showing themselves here.

Also the brasslantern.org guides are not a bad jumping off point for those interested in interactive fiction.

...oh and high fives all round to the Amiga owners, I've still got mine.
