If I'm going to spend $200 or more on an ereader that’s the stuff I want.

I've read elsewhere about people choosing to buy new readers because replacing the cracked glass was almost the same as a new one.

Nope. The iPhone doesn't use it, though it does use a different type of toughened glass. I wouldn't stab mine with a pen, that's for sure. Seeing coworkers smashed iPhone screens has me a bit wary of trying that.

thanks...I figured the way Jobs blathered on about the "unscratchable" glass duing the original announcement that it was the same stuff.

My guess is maybe thos Gorilla Glass might actually be a ceramic or some other glass-metal hybrid...interesting stuff that glass/ceramic chemistry.

I don't know what it is, but we have unbreakable windows, mirrors etc (all glass has been replaced), because one of the guys used to break every single one of them. These windows/mirrors doesn't break, but they do get scratched...

It may be made of Lux. This secret material was mentioned by John W. Campbell , along with relux, years ago in an article called "Islands of Space".
