I wonder what differences there are between "The Original Scroll" and what you'd buy in paperback....

Nice to see that they are starting to put this stuff out in ebook format. Its to bad that the pricing is so inflated. You can get the hard cover at bn for $18.16 and at amazon for $15.57.

The Scroll is what Kerouac originally typed up, basically his first draft. Probably one of the coolest things about it is that it uses all of the character's real names. It would be nice to see this released for Sony in BBeB format but at the current ebook pricing I would opt for the hard cover.

The Original Scroll edition is not available in MobiPocket format.

IIRC, Kerouac had a novel approach to manuscripts. Rather than individual sheets of paper, he used paper rolls, and his manuscripts were one long continuous page. So calling it the "Scroll" edition is apt.

Wow.

That's quite a great deal of feedback, considering that this is one of my first posts.

Thanks for the research everyone. I will admit that I gave up trying to find a copy, after striking out a number of times with Penguin. Considering that I borrowed my copy from a friend for so long that he gave it to me as a gift (he stole it back one day, wrote in it, wrapped it, and gave it back at the Xmas party), I could probably invest a Jackson for the e-text.

Now if only the connect site would load....*sigh* they can build an e-ink reader, but can't run a dang website.
