Whilst being knitted, 39 is clearly not knitwear - at least I cannot imagine how I would wear it, though your imaginative powers may be better than mine, (and there is some evidence for this if you imagine that felt has the aesthetic edge over knitwear). So, by your own argument 2 out of 62 was reasonable representation, and I've demonstrated that knitwear is only represented once, so knitwear is under-represented.

Hum, OK I must agree that 39 is only representative of knitwear and not actually knitwear but I fail to see how a mitten with an over sized thumb is at all esthetically pleasing.

This is the kind of ignorance about the true nature of knitwear that we have come to expect. Whilst only being a representative of knitwear, 19 is clearly not any kind of mitten (I think you must be confusing it with certain existing avatars who will remain nameless), but a baby's bonnet with an extra pocket for keeping wet wipes. As William Morris said: "Have nothing in your home that is not either beautiful or useful". 19 is clearly both.
