One of E.M. Forster's classics! I'll have to read it one day.

Probably, but I continue to have hope. Even in my darkest hours.

Nearing the end of The Guernsey Litterary etc, and still loving it, but now comes the exciting moment when I must choose what to read next I am leaving Guernsey with a to-read list, maybe I'll pick one from it:

- Wuthering Heights (not sure about this one though, and I already read it anyway)
- Seneca
- Charles Lamb

I'm reading EARLY AUTUMN, an old Spenser novel by Robert B. Parker - this is the one about the beginnings of his relationship with Paul. Great to know how that father-mentor/son thing got started!

The Lord Peter mailing list/Yahoo group is doing a re-read and discussion of the Lord Peter novels, so this seemed like a good time to read them.
And a splendid book it is too. Most enjoyable, and I managed to work out the answer only a little while after Lord Peter. Indeed, his reaction was the clue that finally triggered my realisation.

Next up was a late draft of a book by Vicki Tyley, who wrote Thin Blood, currently at #6 in the Kindle ebook store! Not quite up to Thin Blood IMO (still good, though), but it was only a late draft.

And now onto the July/August 2010 Analog (which actually came out in May!)

I just finished The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan, this month's Book Club selection! It was thoroughly enjoyable!

I ended up reading "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt, which was excellent. Now for some lighter books, I'm reading "Ten Things I Love About You" by Julia Quinn on my iPhone and "The Darkest Passion" by Gena Showalter on my Sony. Both are great so far

I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (there, I typed it completely!) on Thursday. A lovely book, I enjoyed in a lot.

Today I think I will visit the library to get a new book to read. In the meantime, I have been reading Seneca's "On the Brevity of Life" (or something similar - I am reading a French translation). I wonder if anybody would be interested in a thread to discuss philosophy? Or is there one already?

Hey Everyone,

Haven't posted up in a while so here is what I have been reading:

Amercian Gods by Neil Gaiman This was my first Neil Gaiman book and I thoroughly
enjoyed it. Very original and kept me interest throughout. I may have to check out more from this guy, I see there is a sequel of sorts called Anasi Boys, any comments on that one?

American Book of the Dead by Henry Baum Another good read. Picked this up cheaply at Smashwords based on a recommendation elsewhere in this thread. Another original idea, that the author wrote the book and then the events came true. Pretty confusing at first but good stuff.

Storm Prey by John Sandford Typical Prey stuff. Enjoyed it though. I have read the whole series so can't stop now. :-) Although I was kind of hoping he was going to end the Prey series and focus on the Virgil Flowers books of which I also enjoy. I see there is a new Virgil book coming out in the fall as well.

The Lost City of Z by David Grann I don't often read Non-fiction stuff but this was quite the tale. Crazy stuff. I hear they are making a movie too.

Josh Bazell Awesome debut for this author. I really enjoyed this one. I can't even remember where I read about it now or even where I got it. lol. But highly recommended.

And Just finished Crack-up by Eric Christopherson Another great book by one of our own members. Really enjoyed this one too. Actually made you feel as though you could relate to being schizophrenic. Thanks Eric!

Now I am deciding what I should start on next. It looks nice out so I will likely be out on the deck this afternoon with a cold one and trying to decide what to read.

Just finished Dracula, it was a fine read. Will try to do the review soon.

Next on the docket is Philip K Dick's Man in the High Castle, my first library e-book!

I can't speak for newer Gaiman, but Neverwhere (about a man who learns there's a lot more to London than you think) and Stardust (where a boy from a village gets entangled in magical doings) both have similar themes to each other at their core, but are both excellent books!
