Ah, but you can now delete books for good. Go to Manage Your Kindle, then find the book in the list of purchased books (use the search facility). Use the Plus sign to open up the book's info there and there is now a DELETE button, which will delete it forever (it will remind you that if you do so, you'll have to re-purchase the book to get it back).

Treason, by Don Brown, returns to the lists of freebies at Amazon today, courtesy of Christian publisher Zondervan. This was previously free last November.
Book Description The stakes are high . . . and the entire world is waiting for the verdict. The Navy has uncovered a group of radical Islamic clerics who have infiltrated the Navy Chaplain Corps, inciting sailors and marines to acts of terrorism. And Lieutenant Zack Brewer has been chosen to prosecute them for treason and murder. Only three years out of law school, Zack has already made a name for himself, winning the coveted Navy Commendation medal. Just coming off a high-profile win, this case will challenge the very core of Zack’s skills and his Christian beliefs—beliefs that could cost him the case and his career. With Diane Colcernian, his staunchest rival, as assistant prosecutor, Zack takes on internationally acclaimed criminal defense lawyer Wells Levinson. And when Zack and Diane finally agree to put aside their animosity, it causes more problems than they realize. Last edited by koland; 05-28-2010 at 05:28 PM. |

Home To Italy, by Peter Pezzelli Book Description In this delightful, moving debut novel, Peter Pezzelli brings to life the earthy sensuality of Tuscany—the smell of just-baked bread wafting through the village piazza; the shopkeepers sweeping the sidewalks under the warm, early morning sun; groups of cyclists dotting the mountain roads—and spins a story of May-December romance as sharp and delicious as the olives of Villa San Giuseppe... After the death of his beloved wife, Anna, Peppi's family and friends expect him to bury his grief by tending to his gardens and taking long rides on his bike. Instead, Peppi shocks them all with his decision to return to Villa San Giuseppe, the small Italian village where he spent his childhood, and to il mulino, his family's old mill. But once he's back, he temporarily moves into an apartment over the candy factory run by his childhood best friend, Luca. It is modest, but livable, with a lovely view of Luca's neglected gardens and his equally neglected daughter, the fiery Lucrezia. More a force of nature than a woman, Lucrezia's legendary temper and workaholic schedule hide the very real pain she feels over her husband's death years before. At first, she tolerates Peppi as an eccentric annoyance—her father's strange but handsome American friend who fixes things around the factory and is bringing the gardens back to life. But soon, Lucrezia's interest in Peppi deepens. Like a high wind, the gossip is flying through Villa San Giuseppe—Lucrezia's making it to dinner on time. She's eating olives from a man's hand. She's wearing heels. Now, under the warm Tuscan sun, a tentative romance begins to bloom between the grieving pair, yielding to a surprisingly strong passion with the power to heal life's wounds and promise second chances... |

Using stories and examples from people throughout history and today, Herringshaw and Schuchmann show readers how they can better tune in to God's voice—everywhere and every day. His Majesty's Dragon, by Naomi Novik, makes a repeat appearance as a free book, which is a good deal for those who didn't have a Kindle in March of last year. Book Description Aerial combat brings a thrilling new dimension to the Napoleonic Wars as valiant warriors rise to Britain’s defense by taking to the skies . . . not aboard aircraft but atop the mighty backs of fighting dragons. When HMS Reliant captures a French frigate and seizes its precious cargo, an unhatched dragon egg, fate sweeps Capt. Will Laurence from his seafaring life into an uncertain future–and an unexpected kinship with a most extraordinary creature. Thrust into the rarified world of the Aerial Corps as master of the dragon Temeraire, he will face a crash course in the daring tactics of airborne battle. For as France’s own dragon-borne forces rally to breach British soil in Bonaparte’s boldest gambit, Laurence and Temeraire must soar into their own baptism of fire. Click HERE to get the download from B&N. Click HERE to launch the Sony Library software and get the book. Undercover Lover, by Charlene Teglia , the second of her Take Me, Lover series. As with most Samhain books, this one comes with a content warning. Book Description Hardwired for all kinds of action... When Anne Parker yanks open her front door, she's armed and ready to aim cold fury at her ex. Instead, she finds herself staring up at Pete Crenshaw, a man as disarming as he is dangerous to her battered defenses. A man whose touch sends her I-remember-sex hormones soaring into the red zone. Those hormones sure have picked a hell of a time to surge, though - with New Year's around the corner and the ex suddenly making noises about worming his way back into her life. Pete's been biding his time. More accurately, lying in wait for precisely the right moment to take their relationship from friends to lovers. He's aware of Anne's trust issues, but it's time to make a move before she has a chance to do what she does best - overthink it. Her ex isn't just back to make another play, though. He's after secrets Pete and his partner hide under the cover of their garage business. Pete finds his heart caught between Anne's safety and the secrets he's sworn to keep - unless he can find a way to preserve both... Warning: This friends-to-lovers tale contains graphic and explicit episodes of mattress dancing, caveman sex, jeopardy (not the game show), Bad Words, Ninjas, ex-husbands and a happy ending. Click HERE to get the book from B&N. The irritating sample chapters from this one have been free for what seems like forever, but today the entire text of Outsmart!: How to Do What Your Competitors Can't, by Jim Champy, is available at no charge. You'll also get a download of an irritation sample for one of his other books (which was easy enough to permanently delete from my Kindle account; worse than irritating, though, is that it was the first chapter or so of a book and being sold for $2.39). Book Description Jim Champy revolutionized business with Reengineering the Corporation. Now, in Outsmart! he’s doing it again. This concise, fast-paced book shows how you can achieve breakthrough growth by consistently outsmarting your competition. Champy reveals the surprising, counterintuitive lessons learned by companies that have achieved super-high growth for at least three straight years. Drawing on the strategies of some of today’s best “high velocity” companies, he identifies eight powerful ways to compete in even the roughest marketplace. You’ll discover how to find distinctive market positions and sustainable advantages in products, services, delivery methods, and unexpected customers with unexpected needs. * How to reignite growth by… * Seeing what others don’t * Breaking free of mental legacies * Using all you know * Changing your frame of reference * Tapping others’ successes * Creating order out of chaos * Simplifying complexity * Doing everything yourself There is not much new in management. But there is a lot new in business. Last edited by koland; 06-01-2010 at 12:21 PM. |

They Almost Always Come Home, by Cynthia Ruchti, from Christian publisher Abingdon Press.
Book Description When Libby’s husband Greg fails to return from a two-week canoe trip to the Canadian wilderness, the authorities soon write off his disappearance as an unhappy husband’s escape from an empty marriage and unrewarding career. Their marriage might have survived if their daughter Lacey hadn’t died…and if Greg hadn’t been responsible. Libby enlists the aid of her wilderness savvy father-in-law and her faith-walking best friend to help her search for clues to her husband’s disappearance…if for no other reason than to free her to move on. What the trio discovers in the search upends Libby’s presumptions about her husband and rearranges her faith. |

Lessee -- there is a complete thread about this book being free -- and a work around for those not in the USA. Seems some other sources DO have it available for free. Try this thread (if my link works)
It's too good a book to miss out on! |

![]() They are free in Canada from Kobo (but I don't think from B&N or Sony). All three have this one, but not in a Kindle compatible format. Tor has four award-finalist short stories available for free pre-order. One-click now and they will be delivered on June 8, at no cost (at least, in the US; international users may see different prices). A Memory of Wind, by Rachel Swirsky. This is a Hugo and Locus Award Finalist. Eros, Philia, Agape, by Rachel Swirsky. This is a Nebula Award Finalist. First Flight, by Mary Robinette Kowal. This is a Locus Award Finalist. Overtime, by Charles Stross. This is a Hugo Award Finalist. Don't have a Kindle? Each of these can be read online at Tor's web site (although I'm not sure if additional editing may have take place before the Kindle editions were published). Keep in mind that sales in the Kindle store, even at zero cost, probably help the author's ratings in the bestseller lists, so be sure to pick up a copy there, as well, if your cost is zero. |

"The Irish Devil" needs a huge content warning too. Gracious. Even more 'content' than many 'modern' romance novels.
