NO, HE CAN'T! Kennyc, stop fantasizing about SneakySnake or, so help me, I'll put images in your head that would make a coroner puke! Picture Rodney Dangerfield giving you a lap dance, rubbing his man boobs in your face, your hands full of his sweaty butt flaps! |

Well, today, after waiting for a month after their scheduled (re-)inspection, the local council building inspector came back to confirm that the four things he'd specified as making our pool perimeter/fence non-compliant with state law had been rectified (we've new state laws, and I think the local council is just making sure compliance is achieved under existing laws before advising locals of the five-year period they have to comply with the new ones). We'd fixed the problems within a couple of days. It cost us one standard, pine, fence palings and a few screws. He was here today, signing off, for all of a couple of minutes. The neighbours...they're spending at least several hundred dollars (more perhaps?) making alterations and paying for compliance. It's still ongoing. Although they did actually have quite a few issues, and as far as I know had not got their pool issued with a compliance notice when first built, I think part of the moral of the story is: Don't be an arsehat to visiting government inspectors just doing their job. (*) Cheers, Marc (* The inspector was actually always a really nice bloke. The neighbour just tends to be unnecessarily adversarial, which may have provoked pedantry) |

Rookie mistake on their part. there are certain people in this world you just have to be polite to. The policeman who pulls you over. The cook who prepares your meal. The guy who has the pictures. |

Wow. You Aussies are lucky! Here in the U.S., you have to treat the inspector like visiting royalty, offer them your first born, make sacrifices to dark, unspeakable gods and bribe them just to get an appointment. To pass inspection, multiply by 6. And that's if you are related to them! Jon |

I do that sort of thing all the time. I read faster than my brain can tick over at times, and the results are often bloody funny - if perturbing... LOL. Hey, check out my signature, guys! I finally got my ebook OUT THE DOOR! :bounce: You wouldn't BELIEVE how good that feels. | |
