Thank God, for Ctrl + on computers! (and knowing how to type without looking at the keyboard. )

So far so good. I can see a little out of my eye as I took the gauze off to put the drops in. I just know, that tape took a few hairs out of my eyebrows. The patch is not much better. They did scare me about being blind, but I figure if I can see with it now, that it won't happen. I'm an adult, you'd think I wouldn't do such dumb things.

That's how I feel about taxes. Have fun.

You don't have to wait, go for it. I'm really going to hate not wearing eye shadow and mascara until this is cleared up. I can't have anything near my eyes that might introduce infection.

Thank you all for your concern, it was just my dumb mistake. I keep telling myself that if my vision isn't effected (or is it affected?) too much right now, that I should be OK. But, it really sucks that I have all this free time for reading and sitting out in the yard and I can't do it.

Thanks, Yvan! I do have my goggles for even doing lawns. My dad taught me well. I was just unlucky on the one time I didn't follow the rules.

In my line of work I've managed to hurt my eyes often. Bits of flying wood being the major culprits.
Then there's this time I managed to glue an eye shut.
Then several times it was lacquer thinner! Burns like hell!

But the worst was a wood splinter. Right in the center of the cornea. After two days of enduring the scratching, thinking it was only dust, I went to the clinic. The Doc saw nothing at first. So he called up a specialist who told him that it might be a micro sliver and taught him by phone how to remove it. He froze my eye with a special liquid and came at me with a scalpel!
I wouldn't let him come near. After calming me down, reasoning, he continued. But his shaking was so bad i still felt queasy.
Let's just say that a scalpel scratching your eye is an unpleasant sight... Up close...

I'm tired of being a test subject when it comes to the meds I'm prescribed. Today's breakdown was caused by an anti anxiety med that kept me awake all night thinking my head was haunted. If your doctor's office is decorated with new drug ads, make him/her try out what they prescribe first.

Also, I'm sick of the blatant nakedness of Yvan's avatar. Put a mitten on it!

It's no fun being a guinea pig trying to find what works. Be very emphatic with your doctor (or threaten him with the power of MR members!) about what you're willing or able to tolerate! Remember - it's your brain/mind he's f***g with!

I've been emphatic. The man is an idiot. The last med he prescribed turned me into a sweaty, twitching basketcase and when I complained, he said my problem isn't anxiety disorder, it's anger management! And since my condition is low priority, the center keeps switching therapists on me, and none of them read my file!

And that was supposed to be anti anxiety meds? Hope they give you something more suitable soon

Have you tried the passive-aggressive delaying tactic? You keep repeating what the problem is and refusing to leave until the jerk actually listens to you/reads the file - and prescribes something appropriate? This type of crap would give anyone an anger-management problem.

(Whew, I feel better now. I just have to get up the courage to let my family know what I did. )
I thought it was awfully brave of you to take the car, and you generally seem to have stayed amazingly calm through it all! I'm sure I would have panicked. Damage to the eyes is probably the thing I fear most. I hope your eye heals really soon. In the meantime you can listen to audiobooks.

I HATE doing taxes with a passion. I usually need to lie down even before I tackle them! That's why I hired an accountant to do it, but even so I'm still filled with anxiety whenever it's that time of year again. And I know a case of an accountant forgetting to file the necessary papers on time. True horror stories. Give me zombies any day.

I'm glad to hear you weren't blinded by the mishap.

It's funny what can pass through someone's mind when an accident like that occurs. Years ago, on a day before I had scheduled a day off to have some fun, I was at work crimping a lug onto a wire when the crimping tool broke and part of the business end of the tool shot off and struck me in the eye, causing a tear in the cornea. For a few minutes, I couldn't open the eye, and thought that eye was history. So what's the first thought that popped into my head? "Damn! I'm blind! ...and I'm suppose to be on annual leave tomorrow!"

Everything's OK now, but it sure put a dent in my day off!

dreams - I hope your eye's better soon, poor thing! *hugs*

recluse - Almost ALL brain-chemistry drugs are experimental, I reckon. It's kinda scary just how little we understand about it all just yet I can empathise a little - years and years ago I went on a common birth control medication and spent an entire night awake, convinced that this was the end and it was about to happen. End of what, and what was about to happen, I couldn't have told you. But I was panicking all night. Then I fell asleep, and woke up feeling fine. *boggle*

DREAMS! OMG, OMG, OMG!!!

I'm so glad it's not worst! I can't believe you *drove*! And I'm so glad the doctors forced you to get treatment!

Hugs and chocolate for you, get some rest, take care of yourself, and have someone over to pamper you, you really need to rest. With all this ordeal, you must've spent the entire night up, so now, nap!

And Recluse, I know what you're going through, bf is living it - it's hell, really. Take baby steps and take care of yourself. And here, have chocolate.
