Oh yes...! It gives the cat a citrus flavor. Objectionable in some curries.

Last time I had lemongrass in it took over the whole back yard in a couple of months. We had to remove it all (and it took ages). I am too scared to plant it again it is worse than mint.
Having her crop it down does help it propagate, but our climate here just barely allows if to grow. Add to that the fact that I'm using a 1-foot container rather than planting in deep soil, so I only get just enough for the bi-monthly Thai dishes I want to make.

I bought some potting soil this morning for the purpose of transferring the remaining two jalapeño and two egg plants to a larger pot, since I've run out of places in the garden for them. Then I left the soil in the trunk of the car. Now the wife has gone off, I'm ready to plant, and no potting soil.

Life is tough!

What's out in my garden?

Snow.

Planted last week. Long-range forecast then said cool and rainy.

We went to FIL's girlfriend's house behind the caravan park behind the BP on Cooroy road I think. was windy

The bloke installed a water de-acidifier thingy (desperate measure to cure FIL's terminal cancer) and we were treated to a lovely beef stew.

Yes, I know the place. Have you been up to Tinbeerwah Lookout before? It's not far from there, and gives a nice overview of the area.

Bugger. I lost my father to terminal cancer a few year's ago. There are no miracles, but the seeming arbitrariness of the disease can sometimes be countered by an apparently arbitrary remission (going from some people in Dad's cancer support group who were deemed "terminal"). I hope for your FIL it is such - any measure isn't desperate, but reasonable pragmatism. Goodonya for trying.

Also, it's beef stew weather.

I haven't been up there for years.

FIL is now 82 and doing well for himself. He has been on a new drug for kidney cancer and has lasted a year longer than originally expected. We have been expecting a bad deterioration for months, but lately he seems better. Apart from losing quite a bit of weight, he still lives on his boat and drives his car and looks after himself very well. He doesn't look sick, just old, and I guess he is old. I am hoping he stays reasonably well until the end.

I think he has already beaten the odds. He's on gravy time now.

We have placed another bed in our house in case he needs to move in, but he seems to be fine and in no need of care.
