So, is 603 the same as 602 plus 3G?
Personally, I don't care about 3G, whereas WiFi is nice to have.

Concerning "you just seem to go for every choice available": That's partially true. I don't go for all of them, just the ones that interest me. No JetBook, no PocketBook 301, no BeBook Mini, ...
But for the ones that interest me, I've got a simple calculation: New gadget = 1 week (or even way more, if I'm lucky) of fun. For $ 300, that's cheaper than any vacation or other hobbies like that.
Only problem is, at some stage everything starts getting boring. Did happen so a few years ago with my DVD collection. Did happen 20 years ago with my collection of comic books. Did happen with my Pocket PCs and Palm Pilots 6 years ago.
For the moment, iTunes movies (about 1,200) and TV episodes (abot 6,000), eBook readers and eBooks (bought more than 1,500) are nice enough hobbies - and still cheaper than other spending frenzies I've had before.
One problem remains: Most consumer electronics get cheaper instead of better. I'd prefer higher quality for an adequate price.

Not anymore. Married for 5 years now.
But I try to receive my deliveries, when my wife isn't home.
She "cought" me in this forum, though. Officially, it had been 5 readers then. She found my thread when playing the Hitler-iPad clip (stupid me - I've sent her the link to the respective thread here in mobileread).

But we have a silent agreement: She doesn't open my closets for gadets, I don't open hers for cloths.

Wow, I'm bowled over by the number of readers.. Must take you a long time to decide which one to take out to read! Do you ever think of selling them?

I'm not thinking about selling any of my gadgets.
For readers, my main invest is in books anyway, not in readers.

Concerning "which one to take": That's really not easy. And it's not easy either, to load my content onto all of these readers.
Mainly, I'm focussing on the 2 or 3 newest readers and some 100 core books.
Right now, I mainly use:
Alex and Pocketbook 360, my newest readers (the new Opus doesn't count, as I had Opus before).
nook, which I find surprisingly convenient for casual reads.
iRex 800, which probably will be my over-all favorite, thanks to the new firmware.
Today or tomorrow, iPad will join. Newest gadget and new possibilities...

Thanks for your opinion, here is the follow-up: my friend flew back yesterday morning with not one, but two nooks !!!
She wanted to thank me for helping her (she has been at it for months now) making up her mind, so she brought me one too!!!
I am of course super happy, she is indeed a very good friend, now of course she relies on me to softroot both etc, etc, etc....

Just wanted to keep you posted !

Even without softroot, nook is a great unit.
I have my fun too, did receive my iPad yesterday. Very nice...

Very nice.
First impression: Smaller than expected (never did care about the measurements, but expected something close to DIN A4).
And way heavier than expected. I certainly won't read any books for hours on it.
But Kindle, B&N and Kobo apps look nice enough. And movies, especially in HD, are great. Very nice gadget.

The idea of getting an ebook reader is quite fresh, but but I could have done without all the searching, had I would have found this threat earlier.
I very much enjoyed reading through this and am very impressed by the constant adding not only of devices but also of impressions and detailed evaluations.
Since starting to read I have changed my mind very often regarding which reader to buy... still haven't made it up, so I will read on and have fun while reading and thinking...

I hear you. My favorites are changing permanently as well.
For now, iRex 800 and PocketBook 360 rank very high.
And my newest gadget, Apple's iPad, has lots of options to discover as well...

iLiad always has been one of my favorites.
I still love the OS, for example changing book title or author's name on the fly, directly on the reader.
But would I go out for a new reader now, I'd probably choose iRex 800 over iRex iLiad:
- iLiad is even more expensive, although "2 years more mature".
- iRex 800 has way better battery life.
- I tend to go for the new gadgets.
- iRex 800 does B&Ns PDB. For me that's great, so it does all the nook - formats.
- Firmware of iRex iLiad isn't supported anymore. You'll never see (DRMed) ePUB support for example.
- iRex 800 is extremely compact, although it's got the same screen size.

But you can't go wrong with either iRex unit, features are amongst the most advanced in the market.

I was considering the new Cybook Opus as I agree the bebook mini just feels wrong while holding. This will be my first ereader. Is there any reason to buy a new color one from a screen perspective? Also I would love to know how the kobo stacks up against the Cybook, as it has a lower price for a 6" unit. Can anyone compare them?
