Also recycled a pot from a plant that someone gave me 3 years ago (I killed it off in less than a month ) to sow tarragon. Now I need to get more pots to plant the chive and sow the rocket. The pots are the hardest to buy, because I want them to look good, and be light (I have to carry all that stuff in the métro) and practical too. And not too expensive, considering it's all probably going to be a waste of money anyway.

Hey Florence, go to Truffault and get yourself a couple of tomato plants, already with flowers and baby fruits. Use plastic pots, they keep humidity better. If you don't like them wrap them in aluminum foil. Be trendy, use large tomato cans, punch holes in the bottom. First you make the tomato sauce and eat your pasta, then wash the can and use it. Leave the label on, with time it will get a nice dilapidated look. Vintage.

Nonsense! You will be famous because of the plants that become nice. Not for those who die. Who cares about them. When they are sick and tired of living, OUT. Enter the new ones.
And we learn, and try not to do the same mistake more than 15 times in a row. Plants. To be planted.

Thank you for your support Kenny and Beppe

All the plants I have bought already grown have died, that's why I decided to try my luck with seeds this time. At least they won't have to go trough the trauma of being snatched from their comfortable hothouse to a truck, to a shop, and then to my apartment and too much water, or not enough, or whatever.

I feel I actually have a better chance with seeds, if I don't do too many stupid things.

Well, we'll see...

Music for my ears!

Although it is not a work of art, I consider Shogun one of the best modern books I read. I learned so much. I have no way of knowing if the descriptions are in any measure accurate of the Edo period. But the traits of character and the traditional culture as depicted in the book, fit like gloves with the experiences that I have of the Japanese people such as I had the chance to encounter professionally.

Recently I have seen the movies of the great master Takeshi Kitano and found again, in different keys, the themes of Shogun. In the past the other great master, Akira Kurosawa, chanted similar songs.

Apartment gardening leaves a lot to be desired. I take advantage of Oregon's mild winters to start in Feb. or March on the deck outside.

You are very welcome, Florence dear. Window gardening is not an easy art to learn, and it takes many tentatives to find one's way. It is true, seeds have different chances than plants already grown. Truffault and find a good guy there to advise you. Sometimes it is wise to spend money.

Eh, but the picture is not there anymore. I asked the help of a GreenFoot. Usually they come right away.

I have one orchid! All other plants died. We were pretty upset, until our neighbor (93 y. old and an expert in plants) told us that they have survived 2-3 times longer than normally expected under our care. We want to buy some new, but the time is neevr there when you need it. Perhaps Zelda would borrow us the space-time-machine whose name I can't recall now...?

Worse still when no sunlight falls on one's window. I use two banks of flouescents to compensate. Combine 1 warm light with 1 cool white in each bank.

rabbit is sold in most big markets here. I've eaten it numerous times.
